Radiation is the second thing pet parents ask about, right after anesthesia. It deserves a real answer rather than a reassuring shrug. ☀️

Both CT and fluoroscopy use a focused, minimal dose. Our technology delivers 60 to 90% less radiation than a standard CT scanner. In practical terms, the exposure is considered comparable in safety to dental X-rays — and it’s a one-time study, not something your pet undergoes repeatedly.

Weigh that against the alternative: months of guessing, treatments aimed at the wrong problem, or a surgery planned without a clear picture of what’s inside.

Ask us anything. We’d rather over-explain than have you worry.

Fluoroscopy is the one most pet parents have never heard of, and it solves problems nothing else can touch. 🎥

Think of it as an X-ray movie — a continuous, live image on a monitor showing movement inside the body as it happens. That makes it the right tool for a dog who coughs every time he eats, a puppy who regurgitates undigested food, or a small-breed dog whose windpipe may be collapsing when she gets excited.

Swallow studies and airway studies usually need no sedation at all. Most fluoroscopic studies run 20 to 30 minutes.

If your pet has a swallowing, breathing, or gagging problem nobody has been able to pin down, this is very often the study that finds it.

For a CT scan, your pet has to be completely still, so yes — sedation is part of it. That worries people, and it should be taken seriously. So here’s what we do about it. 🩺

Our anesthesia protocols are designed by a board-certified veterinary anesthesiologist. Your pet is evaluated before anything begins. Experienced CT technicians monitor them at every stage of the scan, and afterward they’re watched for one to two hours until they’re fully awake.

Fluoroscopy is often a different story. Swallow studies and airway studies are usually done fully awake. Urinary studies typically need sedation.

Ask us anything about this before your pet’s appointment. It’s a fair question and we’d rather you ask it.

Chronic sneezing. A nose that runs on one side only. Head shaking that never fully resolves. An ear infection that keeps coming back no matter what’s prescribed. 🐶

These are some of the hardest cases to solve, because the sinuses, nasal passages, inner ear, and tooth roots are packed into a small space full of overlapping bone. On a flat X-ray, that region is close to unreadable.

CT is built for exactly this. It separates those structures cleanly enough to find the thing that’s been causing months of symptoms — a mass, a foreign body, a diseased tooth root, a defect nobody could see.

If your pet has a problem that keeps coming back, ask your veterinarian whether it’s time to look properly.

Here’s exactly what a CT day looks like, because knowing the sequence takes most of the fear out of it. 🐕

Your pet gets a full pre-anesthetic evaluation first. The scan itself runs 20 minutes to an hour depending on how many regions we’re covering — larger pets take a little longer. Afterward your pet stays under observation, either in our unit or with your veterinarian, for about one to two hours while the anesthesia wears off. Your vet gets a detailed aftercare list from us.

The images go to a board-certified radiologist, and a full report is back to your veterinarian within 24 hours. Rush service is available when a case can’t wait.

A standard X-ray flattens your pet into a single image. Everything in the body gets stacked on top of everything else, and a lot hides in that overlap. 🩻

A CT works differently. The scanner circles your pet slowly and captures somewhere between 200 and 1,000 individual images, then assembles them into a three-dimensional picture a radiologist can move through slice by slice. Nothing is stacked. Nothing is hidden behind a rib.

That’s why CT is the tool of choice for the skull, brain, sinuses, inner ear, eye sockets, spine and discs, bones, joints, and soft tissue — the places where a flat image simply can’t show enough.

If your pet’s X-rays came back inconclusive, this is the next step.

Wellness month usually means “book your annual exam,” and you should. But an exam and a set of X-rays are screening tools — built to find the question, not always to answer it. 🍂

Your vet feels something that shouldn’t be there. A limp doesn’t match the radiographs. A cough has gone on for two months. That’s the point where a lot of families get stuck, because they don’t know the next step exists or assume it means a referral hospital across the county.

It doesn’t. We bring the scanner to your vet’s clinic.

Rabies remains one of the few diseases that is almost always fatal once symptoms appear, in animals and people alike. It's still present in Florida wildlife — bats, raccoons, foxes — which is why vaccination is required by law for pets in this state. Check your records this week and confirm your pet's vaccine is current. 💉

Your family veterinarian handles that part, and should. But if your pet does tangle with wildlife, call them right away even when the wound looks minor — because puncture wounds are deceptive. Skin seals over quickly while bacteria and debris stay sealed underneath, and a bite that looked like nothing can become a deep abscess days later, well below anything an exam or X-ray reveals.

That's the point where advanced imaging earns its place: CT maps the full extent of deep infection and any material left behind, so your veterinarian treats the whole wound instead of the visible part.

A vaccine your pet will never notice. A risk they'll never face. 🤍

Detailed Reports, Delivered the Next Day

Thorough imaging, reviewed by specialists — usually back within 24 hours.

A scan is only as valuable as the report that follows it. At Mobile Pet Imaging, every image is carefully reviewed by our board-certified team, who then prepare a complete, detailed report for your veterinarian — most often within 24 hours. That reliable turnaround means your vet can move quickly from diagnosis to treatment, without the long waits that come with crowded referral centers. We're thorough because the details matter, and we're fast because we know your family is waiting. 🩺

Careful imaging and quick reporting — because both matter for your pet.
