Your Dog hates water? It may be your fault for not getting pro help. 🐕💧
One approach creates fear. The other builds confidence.
At iDog Academy, we don’t FORCE dogs to learn. WE TEACH THEM TO WANT TO LEARN. 🔥
Imagine teaching your dog to bring you water. 🥤🐶 Or introducing them to swimming for the first time.
❌ The wrong approach? Force them into the water, overwhelm them, and expect them to figure it out.
✅ THE IDOG WAY? We build trust FIRST.
🌊 Start at the beach, a calm lake, or a pool with a wide, gradual entry.
🐾 Let them get their feet wet.
🎾 Make it a game. Use toys, rewards, praise, and excitement.
⏱️ Keep sessions short and fun.
📈 Gradually increase the challenge as their confidence grows.
❤️ Never force them past their comfort level.
This is called gradual desensitization, shaping, and positive reinforcement—science-based training principles that help dogs develop positive associations and learn new behaviors.
The goal isn’t just to get the dog to DO something. It’s to build a dog who feels SAFE, confident, and willing to participate.
A dog can comply because it’s afraid. Or a dog can learn because it trusts you. Those are NOT the same thing.
At iDog Academy, we’re not just teaching commands. We’re building communication, confidence, and a stronger bond between dogs and their families.
🐕 DON’T JUST CONTROL YOUR DOG. TEACH YOUR DOG.
