Service Dog Training in Action: Learning to Heel with a Wheelchair

Service dog training is about much more than obedience—it’s about preparing a dog to work safely and confidently alongside their handler’s individual needs.

Here, Romeo is learning to maintain a controlled heel alongside a wheelchair, developing proper positioning, awareness, focus, and pace while adapting to the movement of the chair.

At Elite K9 Companion, our service dog programs are personalized to each dog-and-handler team and practiced in real-life situations where reliability matters most.

From puppy and obedience training to service dogs, medical alert dogs, and therapy dog preparation, every program is designed around the individual dog and handler.

Engagement & Focus: The Foundation of Training

Great training begins when your dog learns to focus on you—even when distractions are present. At Elite K9 Companion, we build engagement, attention, and communication before expecting reliable obedience. These skills help create calmer walks, stronger commands, and a more confident partnership at home and in real-world environments.
