Dental chews can be a helpful addition to your pet's oral-care routine, but they shouldn't completely replace toothbrushing.

Regular brushing helps disrupt plaque before it hardens into tartar. For extra support, ask your veterinarian about dental products that are appropriate for your pet.

Heartworm disease can cause lasting damage to the heart, lungs, and blood vessels, and infected pets may not show obvious symptoms early on.

The good news is that heartworm disease is preventable. Staying consistent with veterinarian-recommended prevention and testing gives your pet important protection against this mosquito-borne disease.

Have questions about heartworm testing or prevention? Call (786) 361-9344.

Every dog is different! The right amount of exercise depends on your dog's age, breed, size, and overall health.

Regular exercise helps maintain a healthy weight, supports joint health, reduces boredom, and can even improve behavior. If you're unsure how much exercise is right for your dog, we're happy to help. Call (786) 361-9344.

Year-round in Miami: mosquitoes don't take a season off, and neither should parasite prevention. That goes for every pet we see.

Heartworm (dogs, cats, and ferrets)
Mosquitoes spread heartworm disease, and in South Florida they are active every month of the year. That is why we recommend year-round prevention, not just summer prevention.
• Dogs: year-round prevention plus an annual heartworm test.
• Cats and ferrets: at risk too, including indoor pets (mosquitoes get inside). Ask us which prevention fits your pet.

Other parasites, all species
• Fleas and ticks: dogs, cats, ferrets, and rabbits
• Ear mites: cats, ferrets, and rabbits. Rabbits can also get fur mites.
• Guinea pigs: mange mites
• Snakes: snake mites
• Tortoises and lizards: mites and ticks
• Birds (parrots, parakeets): scaly face/leg mites
• Reptiles, birds, and mammals: intestinal parasites. We run a f***l exam at wellness visits.

Rabbit owners: never use a flea product without asking a vet first. Some dog and cat products are dangerous for rabbits.

Book a wellness/parasite check by appointment: (786) 361-9344. Call for pricing.

True! Plain, cooked pumpkin is a healthy treat for many dogs when offered in moderation. It's a good source of fiber and nutrients and may even help support healthy digestion.

Just be sure to avoid pumpkin pie filling, which often contains added sugar and spices that aren't safe for pets. Does your dog enjoy pumpkin? Let us know!

We've all been there... You sit down to answer one email, and somehow 30 minutes later you're rubbing your dog's belly instead.

Be honest...how often are you guilty of a little "pawcrastination?"

True! Daily brushing is one of the best ways to prevent plaque buildup, gum disease, and bad breath. Dental disease doesn't just affect the mouth, it can also impact the heart, kidneys, and liver over time.

If daily brushing isn't realistic, brushing a few times each week is still beneficial.
