“The Cats We Remember”

Some cats stay with us long after they leave the room. 💛

Maybe it’s the way they waited by the door.

The little sound they made when they wanted attention.

The place they always slept.

The way they somehow knew when you were having a difficult day.

Cats become part of our routines so quietly that sometimes we don’t realize how much space they hold in our lives until we stop and think about it.

And for people who care for community cats, that bond can be just as real.

You may not bring every cat inside. You may not even be able to touch them.

But you notice them.

You remember who comes first for food.

Who keeps their distance.

Who finally trusted you enough to come closer.

Who disappeared for a few days and made you worry.

Every cat leaves a little story behind. 🐾

Could Your Cat Be Bored?

Your cat has food, water, a warm home and approximately 14 places to nap… but could they still be bored? 🐱💭

Cats need more than a comfortable place to sleep. They also need opportunities to play, explore, scratch, climb and use their natural instincts.

And enrichment doesn't have to mean buying something new every week.

📦 Leave out a safe cardboard box to investigate.
🎾 Rotate toys instead of leaving everything out at once.
🪶 Make time for interactive play.
🪟 Give them a safe window spot to watch the world outside.
🐾 Provide different scratching surfaces.
🔎 Create little opportunities to explore and discover.

Sometimes even something incredibly simple becomes the most exciting event of the day.

Especially when you're a cat.

Because apparently a cardboard box can be more interesting than the expensive thing that arrived inside it. 😂📦

Maybe you put out a little water… then some food… and before you know it, you're checking for them every single day.

That's how caring for a community cat can begin — with one small moment of noticing.

You may never be able to help every cat you see. But to the one who finds a safe place to eat, fresh water, TNR support, veterinary help, or simply a human who cares…

that small act can matter enormously.

Stray cat or feral cat — can you tell the difference?
They may both be living outdoors, but they can have very different relationships with people — which means the best way to help may be different too.

🐾 A stray may approach, meow or seek human interaction.
🐾 A feral cat is more likely to keep their distance and avoid contact.

The most important thing? Both deserve compassion — and help that respects their individual needs. 💛

You see a cat outside your home. How can you tell if they're stray… or feral? 🐱

It can be surprisingly difficult to tell at first, but understanding the difference matters because the best way to help isn't always the same.

A stray cat has usually lived with people before and may:

🐾 Approach people
🐾 Meow or seek attention
🐾 Make eye contact
🐾 Eventually allow petting
🐾 Hang around homes looking for food

A feral cat has had little or no positive interaction with humans and is more likely to:

🐾 Keep their distance
🐾 Run when approached
🐾 Avoid being touched
🐾 Stay hidden around people
🐾 Be more active around dawn or dusk

And here's the important part:

A feral cat doesn't necessarily need to become an indoor cat to be helped. 💛

Providing fresh water, supporting responsible feeding and connecting with local Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR) resources can make a meaningful difference for community cats.

🐱 Why Does My Cat Follow Me Everywhere?

Ever feel like you have a tiny furry supervisor following you around the house? 😂🐾

You go to the kitchen.
They come too.

You walk into the bedroom.
Right behind you.

And apparently going to the bathroom alone is no longer an option. 👀

But your cat following you isn't necessarily just about food.

Cats may follow their humans because they're curious about what you're doing, they've learned your daily routine, they're looking for interaction, or they simply enjoy being near someone they feel comfortable with.

And sometimes?

Yes... they're absolutely hoping you're walking toward the treats. 😂

One of the sweetest parts of living with cats is realizing how much they quietly incorporate us into their routines too. 💛🐱

One of the best things about having a cat is how they quietly become part of every little routine. 💛

The morning meow while you’re making coffee.

The paws following you from room to room.

The familiar spot they choose every afternoon.

The little face waiting for you when you come home.

The bedtime routine that somehow became their bedtime routine too. 🐾

None of these moments seem particularly important when they happen.

But years later, they're often the things we remember most.

Cats don't need to do anything extraordinary to become an extraordinary part of our lives. 🐱💛
