๐ฆ Lower Beak Repair in a Rescued Conure
This conure was found wandering the streets and was brought to our hospital by a compassionate Good Samaritan. During examination, we discovered a significant fracture of the lower beak that would have made eating and normal beak function very difficult.
After discussing treatment options, the rescuer generously agreed to move forward with repair. Under general anesthesia and with the patient safely intubated, cerclage wires were carefully placed to stabilize the fractured lower beak and hold the pieces together while healing occurs.
Beak injuries can be challenging because birds rely on their beaks for eating, climbing, grooming, and interacting with their environment. Stabilization is essential to restore function and give these patients the best chance for recovery.
Weโre grateful to the kind individual who stepped in to help this little bird and give it a second chance. โค๏ธ
