Spending the day at the Kentucky Emergency Services Conference (KESC 2026) exploring how uncrewed systems are changing disaster response. The AWR-345 course lays out the blueprint for starting a public safety drone program, working through complex FAA guidelines, and leveraging aerial tech when every second counts. 🛸⚡

Lost dachshund in Washington, Illinois. Last seen near dusk.

I rolled up, set the landing zone, got comms confirmed, and put the thermal up. Then it was just me, the feed, and hours of grid work — scanning every shadow, every ditch, every place a scared little dog might hide.

When the grid was done, I brought the drone home and called it a night.

That's what a professional search looks like: structured, disciplined, and thorough.

🐾 LOKI'S HOME.

Lost dogs don't find their way back alone. They find their way back because a community shows up.

When Loki got out, the sightings started rolling in — 13 of them across the area. Every single one got logged, tracked, and triangulated. That's how you narrow a search grid. That's how you bring a dog home.

Huge thanks to Central Illinois Tail Trackers for the ground work and the community sightings that made this possible.

Welcome home, Loki. 🐕‍🦺💚

Patty took the whole crew to Bass Pro Shops and they did NOT disappoint. 🐾

Four dogs — Ada, Lucy, Oreo, and Grace — one treat, and zero shame. Grace might have been the only one who did not hear the "sit" command, but she made it work anyway.

Our first thermal drone search for a lost pup! While we didn't spot her from the sky, we're so relieved to hear she was found safe and sound about 3 miles from home. What a happy ending! 🐾
