Phantom K9 Training

Phantom K9 Training Obedience and protection dog training based in Arizona. It all started with Phantom, a Craigslist pup I got right out of high school.

The time I spent training him sparked a passion for the craft and helping other achieve a strong bond with their dogs. Though he’s no longer here, I feel his presence and influence and his memory continues to inspire me daily. Phantom’s legacy lives on in every dog trained, every lesson learned, and every life changed through the work we do. Inspired after rescuing Phantom, I began working with lo

cal Arizona rescues and shelters. I wanted to make a difference for the dogs who struggled to find homes because of complex behavioral challenges. Over time, the passion for rescue work grew, and we continue to work with the rescue dogs daily. Who knows, you may even adopt your next pup from a local shelter and receive pro bono training! Today, operating out of our facility in Mesa, our growing team has trained hundreds of dogs from all different breeds, backgrounds, and lifestyles. Every dog has unique challenges and needs, and their training reflects that. No dog or day is the same at Phantom K9, and that’s exactly how we want it to be!

Civil dogs do it best 😍

Your training is only as good as the dog can do it with normal things happening.

You have to show the dog as many things as possible that would challenge them. Yes, that means sometimes they will fail. That's a crucial part of the learning process and proofing the dog to be reliable.

Finn is a young dog, and he wants nothing more than to chase the cat and jump on the little one. Hes done great!

I don't care if you train with good vibes only but just let me do my thing too. That seems fair 😀

Pirate was getting dangerous, to the point where you couldn't safely have people over.

He's a really nice dog, he struggled greatly with meeting new people. When I first met him, he tried to bite me several times with his muzzle on.

The second clip was his first time meeting this person, and he's pretty stoked about it 😀

I don't think this gets the credit it deserves, but one of the biggest benefits of training your dogs together, aside from them being obedient and on the same page is that it teaches them to work together.

Most dogs are working against each other in the household because they don't have any shared values. This competition can sometimes breed some issues between the dogs.

Dogs that are trained together, learn to work together, and to work for their handler as well.

Same rules, same expectations, shared success.

9-5 is child's play.

Your dog will work 20 hours a day and not even blink twice about it.

Unless you're capable of providing them with this lifestyle, you have to teach them and show them what their life is going to look like. From the day you get them.

This is a huge mistake people make with working dogs. They are super fired up about having a young dog, and they spend the whole day doing stuff with it.

Which is great if it's your norm. If it's not, you should prepare the dog for what the normal is going to be.

Think of COVID. Everybody was at home and got a new puppy, that's what the puppy thought life was and as soon as people had to go back to work..that puppy's world was completely turned upside down . We told people be prepared for the eventuality of you going back to work, and train that puppy knowing that's going to be the outcome. Few did. And now the industry has a name for it. They are called " COVID puppies".

People don't struggle with working breeds because " they have too much energy" they fill with working breeds because they failed to set the expectation from the beginning.

Birdie, who even before training, was a super good dog.

Very sweet, friendly, and a nice temperament but a young dog.

Now you take that and add loads of training. On leash, off leash, public work etc.

You got an awesome dog, with an intensely bright future. That would be Birdie in a nutshell 😍

I think all dogs need and deserve training. Some can by with out it, all would be better for it.
