Today was officially Dr. Schiers' first day as a veterinarian at Pet Medical Care!

Dr. Schiers started her journey with us as a veterinary technician, and today she officially begins her career as a doctor. We could not be more proud of her hard work, dedication, and commitment to animal care.

She has a passion for mixed animal medicine and a special love for equine care. With her joining our team, we are excited to take the next steps towards expanding into mixed animal services by adding mobile equine care throughout the Treasure Valley.

Congratulations, Dr. Schiers, and welcome to your first day as a veterinarian!

We are proud to announce that Dr. Ormond has been approved as one of the veterinary clinics for the Idaho Pet Friendly License Plate Program!

This funding helps support spay/neuter veterinary care directly in Idaho communities. This year, $73,000 was collected, and every dollar generated from the sale of Pet Friendly license plates is distributed through multiple doctors and non-profits back into Idaho.

We will be organizing a local spay and neuter project in the South Nampa/Melba area near the end of June. Our goal is to help families in rural and underserved areas where transportation, cost, and limited appointment availability can make care difficult to access.

Our veterinarians will use our Mobile Pet Medical Care Clinic and community outreach efforts to help reach pet owners who may not otherwise have access to affordable services, especially with the feral cat population. We plan to host designated community clinic days where families can bring pets to a centralized location for care.

We are excited to give back locally and show Idaho pet owners exactly where these funds are making a difference.

Keep an eye out for more information and sign-up details coming soon!

What a great weekend at the Idaho Pet Expo.

We got to meet so many amazing people, reconnect with clients, and spend the day surrounded by people who love animals as much as we do. Events like this are a great reminder of how strong and supportive the pet community is here in Idaho.

A huge thank you to everyone who stopped by our booth, checked out the Mobile Clinic, and came to say hi to Dr. Ormond and our team.

Corbin Maxey brought some incredible animals and made the event even more fun and educational. It was also awesome watching the Meridian K9 Unit demonstrate the skill, discipline, and teamwork of the dogs that help protect our community every day.

Thanks again to everyone who made the event such a success. We are already looking forward to next year.

One of our favorite parts of this event every year is meeting fellow animal lovers, connecting with new families, and seeing so many amazing pets all in one place.

Come see Dr. Ormond and check out our Mobile Clinic while you’re there. We would love to meet you, answer questions, and talk all things pet care, wellness, boarding, and mobile veterinary services.

Bring your well-behaved pets and stop by to say hi!

See you tomorrow at Expo Idaho from 10am–4pm.

Parvo Awareness Day

Parvo is one of the most serious diseases puppy owners can face, and the best treatment is prevention.

Parvo spreads fast and can be picked up from parks, sidewalks, grass, shared spaces, and even brought home on shoes. Most puppies look completely healthy until they suddenly are not.

Warning signs include:
• Vomiting
• Diarrhea
• Lethargy
• Loss of appetite
Dehydration

The good news is parvo is preventable.

Staying on schedule with core vaccines is the best way to protect your puppy. Our Puppy Plan includes those important preventative visits and core vaccines to help your new puppy get the right start.

And because prevention matters for adult dogs too, core vaccines are also included in our adult wellness Membership plans.

If you have a new puppy or your dog is due for vaccines, give us a call. Prevention is always easier than treatment.

Bulldogs Are Beautiful Day - And yes, they know it
Full of personality, charm, and enough confidence for the whole room. But behind all that cuteness, bulldog owners should pay close attention to their health, especially breathing.

Because bulldogs are a brachycephalic breed (short-nosed), they can be more prone to:
• Breathing difficulties
• Overheating
• Skin fold irritation
• Dental crowding
• Eye issues

Snoring may be funny, but struggling to breathe is not. Heavy panting, loud breathing, trouble exercising, or overheating quickly are signs worth paying attention to.

Regular exams help catch small issues before they become big ones. These exams are included with our wellness programs.

Give us a call if you have any questions and want to set an appointment!
