I am looking to fill this position if anyone is interested please shoot me a message! 🫶🏼

Stablehand wanted!
🎃 Wednesday AMs
🎃 Occasional Saturday AMs
🎃 Back up shift coverage

These shifts are offered through our working student program where you receive credit towards boarding, horseback riding lessons, or leasing one of our horses. We have 2 nice mares available for lease currently!

Shifts include feeding and watering horses, sweeping, handling horses, cleaning stalls, feeding grain, driving an atv to spread manure, etc. AM shift appx 4-5 hours PM shift appx 2.5 hours (no stalls in pm).

Prefer someone 16 y/o and up (younger with a parent helper is OK), horse handling experience a bonus but also willing to train. This is an outdoor, rain or shine job, so someone who will put the horses first, doesn’t mind getting their hands dirty, and has a good work ethic is what we need. This is a great way to learn how to take care of horses on a larger scale which you can carry into future horsemanship or horse ownership.

Throttle & Reins Rodeo 🖤⚙️

We had a blast attending this event again, and I feel so privileged to live in a place that puts on something like this. As a horse girl and wanna-be dirtbike girl, the two coming together to race against one another in one arena is something I could only dream of til this began. Thank you Radix Construction Inc and Crooked 8 for putting this on.

Despite myself, Rossi, and Tia all being in the same boat of minimal practice and our first race of the year- everyone had clean and fast (for each of our individual goals) runs! I am blessed to have a best friend, step daughter, boyfriend, and not to mention- horse, who are down to do fun and crazy things with me at the drop of a hat.

Thank you to everyone who came out to support and cheer us on and big thank you to Angela for the photos!!! 🖤🖤🖤

((I didn’t get any bike pics this year so I included one from last year when my honey raced))

How we talk to and about our horses is so important. A lot of the negative meanings we assign to their behavior are our own projections. Horses don’t work that way 🖤

🐴 “Naughty.” “Stubborn.” “Rude.” They might seem like harmless words, but could they actually change how we treat horses?

At the ISES 2026 Conference, Susie Catherall Ostler presented “Words matter: The prevalence and impact of negative emotive language in the equine industry.”

In a survey of 355 participants, every participant had heard negative emotive language used to describe horse behaviour, and 97% admitted using it themselves.

But the most striking finding was what happened when researchers changed only the language used to describe a horse’s behaviour. Participants shown descriptions using negative emotive language were significantly more likely to suggest sedation and, in some scenarios, positive punishment, despite seeing the exact same video of the horse.

People who reported using this type of language more frequently were also less likely to suggest giving the horse time, considering their emotional state or physical discomfort, or using desensitisation.

The takeaway is simple but powerful: the words we use can shape the decisions we make.

Instead of labelling a horse as naughty, stubborn or rude, asking why they are behaving that way could lead us towards more horse centred responses.
