๐Ÿ•๏ธ Meet Harriet & Simon โ€” setting up camp at MAH!

These two came in for their spay & neuter procedures the other day and decided the best way to spend their recovery time was tucked together in the official "Cat Hiding Box." Honestly? We respect it completely.

Simon is unbothered. Harriet is watching our every move. Together they are absolutely melting our hearts.

Getting your cats spayed or neutered is one of the most important things you can do for their long-term health, and as you can see our patients recover in only the finest accommodations.

Thank you for trusting us with these two, Harriet & Simon's family! They were absolute stars. โญ

๐ŸŒฟIt's Garden Wildlife Week, and if your pets love spending time outside as much as we think they do, this one's for you.

Warmer weather is wonderful, but the backyard can have hidden hazards for curious paws and noses:

*Many common garden plants are toxic to dogs & cats (lilies, azaleas, sago palm)
*Flea & tick season is in full swing, stay on top of prevention
*Hot pavement can burn paw pads, test it with your hand first
*Bee and insect stings can cause serious reactions in some pets
*Not sure which plants in your yard are safe? Our team is always happy to help! ๐ŸŒฑ

Memorial Day weekend is almost here, but while you're firing up the grill and planning your festivities, keep your fur babies in mind!

A few things to watch out for this weekend:
๐Ÿšซ Corn cobs, onions, grapes & xylitol โ€” all toxic to dogs & cats
๐ŸŒก๏ธ Never leave pets in parked cars โ€” even for "just a minute"
๐Ÿ”Š Fireworks & loud crowds can cause serious anxiety โ€” have a safe, quiet space ready
๐ŸŽˆ Keep balloons, skewers & foil away from curious paws

Have a wonderful, safe holiday weekend from all of us at Meriden Animal Hospital!

Happy National Rescue Dog Day!

Rescue dogs don't just find a home, they find their people. If you've ever adopted, you know exactly what we mean. The loyalty, the gratitude, the absolute chaos they bring into your life in the best possible way.

At Meriden Animal Hospital, we have the privilege of caring for rescue pups every single day, and we love every one of them!

May is National Pet Month, and summer is just around the corner - which means it's the perfect time to make sure your pet is protected for the season ahead.

Before the warm weather hits full swing, ask yourself:
โœ… Is heartworm prevention up to date?
โœ… Are flea & tick preventatives current?
โœ… Has your pet had their annual wellness exam?
โœ… Is their nutrition supporting an active summer lifestyle?

Prevention is always better, and less expensive than treatment. Our team is here to help you keep your pet healthy all season long!

This week weโ€™re excited to spotlight Meriden Animal Hospital , one of Bridgetโ€™s awesome customers! ๐Ÿพ

May is Pet Cancer Awareness Month, and early detection truly saves lives.
Cancer is one of the most common diseases in dogs and cats โ€” but the good news is that with regular wellness exams, our team can often catch warning signs before they become serious.

Things to watch for at home:
-Unexplained lumps or bumps
-Changes in appetite or weight
-Persistent coughing or difficulty breathing
-Unusual swelling or wounds that won't heal

When was your pet's last check-up? Proactive care is the best protection.
Book your regular wellness visit with us, and let's have a conversation :)

Today is National Animal Disaster Preparedness Day and it's one we take seriously at Meriden Animal.

Does your pet emergency kit have everything it needs? Here's a quick checklist:

โœ… 3โ€“5 days of food & water
โœ… Copies of vaccination & medical records
โœ… Medications with clear dosing instructions
โœ… Microchip info & ID tags up to date
โœ… Carrier, leash, and a familiar blanket

Not sure if your pet's records are current? Give us a call and we're happy to help you get prepared.
