Do you live in an apartment complex Seattle that charges extra for pets? Good news! The City Council passed legislation on Tuesday to ban pet rent and other charges that housing advocates often call "junk fees." It goes into effect in July of next year.

Under the new legislation, Seattle landlords must disclose fees in advertising rent prices, and can’t charge fees for things like mail and package delivery. The new regulations don't go into effect until July 1, 2027.

Did you know... Cats have good night vision but cannot see in total darkness. So before you leave for your trip, make sure you leave a couple of lights on inside the house for your feline friends. Putting the lights on timers so they turn on every night around the same time works well. If you think leaving a light on will disrupt your cats' sleep, guess again. 😻

My kitty client Ivy passed. She was 18 and had a long and happy life. She was a kick in the pants! I'll miss petting her soft fur.

Lulu crossed the Rainbow Bridge last night. I was visiting her while her humans were out of town. On the first first day, last Monday, I could tell she just wasn't feeling well. She'd stopped eating and was peeing outside the box.I got her into the emergency vet. Her bloodwork was the worst I'd ever seen. She was in acute kidney failure. There wasn't much to be done beyond palliative care. I offered to provide around-the-clock care for Lulu at her home until her humans could get back. They returned at 7pm to say goodbye. She passed just a few short hours later. Such a sweet, soft, beautiful little Siamese, and only 14. My heart is so broke.

Are you enjoying walking your dog this summer? As temperatures start rising above 85° there's a real danger that your dog's paws may get burned. Here’s a tip: Take the back of your hand, place it on the pavement for 5 seconds and if it’s too hot for you, it's too hot for your dog's paws.

I just learned that another of my kitty clients, Khang-Yi, also crossed the Rainbow Bridge earlier today. Khang-Yi battled diabetes and kidney disease for some years. He was a sweet and rather stoic fellow. I will miss him.

My buddy Wally crossed the Rainbow Bridge today with the help of his best human and a wonderful vet. Wally had cancer that progressed quickly. He was alway affectionate and chatty and I enjoyed hus company a lot. I was able to visit with him a couple days ago and he was just as sweet and silly as ever. Goodbye, handsome. I'll miss you, as will your furry friends Paris and Thumbelina.
