The smaller parrot babies grow up fast! It's only been a couple weeks and they've basically reached their adult body proportions. They're still very much in baby mode and very easy to handle at this age though they'll still be on handfeeding for a couple more weeks.

We are excited to introduce a new group of handfed babies. This group includes 16 babies total, all currently around 2-3 weeks old. We welcome customers to come visit with babies, but they will need time before they are old enough to go home.

We currently have:
- Three quakers (one regular blue, one pale blue, one opaline)
- Thirteen green cheek conures

We're excited to share that we now have an online store on our website! You can shop for some of our in-house favorites from home. Offerings include:

- Our handmade parrot toys (made by people who work with birds daily and designed with real behavior in mind)
- Our popular bean mix
- Our muffin/birdie bread mix

Everything is made with bird-safe materials and ingredients, just like we use in the shop.

We've also had a new baby eclectus join us recently! Magnus is already showing that classic ekkie personality: smart, expressive, and very sure of his opinions.

Magnus is settling in well, and we're enjoying getting to know him. Lately, he's been especially into shreddable toys: cardboard and balsa are clear favorites!

Meet Bumblebee (Bee, aka "Mumblebee") the Maximilian pionus

Bumblebee is a thoughtful little observer who prefers watching the world from the best seat in the house: the top of her cage. Most of the time she quietly chirps and "mumbles" to herself, which is how she earned the nickname Mumblebee. If she strongly disagrees with something, though, you'll definitely hear about it!

Personality:
Bee is a shy, observant girl who enjoys watching everything going on around her. She doesn't mind other animals as long as they respect her space. She even has a couple of small dog friends she likes to watch run around.

She enjoys training and has been working on target training and indoor flight, her favorite activity. Bee can step up and will sometimes ride on a shoulder for a few minutes before returning to her cage.

Bee is cautious about change and needs time to adjust. With patience and consistency, she settles in well and builds trust with her people. Like many parrots, she may bite if her warnings are ignored, but she is very good at communicating when she is uncomfortable. Learning her body language is the key to building a strong relationship.

Training and Care:
Bee can be a bit stubborn and will try to get her own way, so consistency is important. Although she is cautious about change, she needs regular enrichment and variety in her environment and schedule to stay happy. Our staff will gladly share tips to continue her training and set her up for success.

Ideal Home:
Bee will do well as long as her space and personality are respected. She can be around kids, but she is not a very hands-on or playful bird, so interactions should always be supervised. She does enjoy having her head stroked by trusted humans.

If you are looking for a thoughtful, observant companion and are willing to earn her trust, Bee could be a wonderful match. Think Bee might be the right bird for you? Stop by and meet her!

Employees who have java trees for their birds say they're one of the best investments they've made. Durable java wood stands up well to even enthusiastic beaks, and in most cases these trees last a lifetime.

Check out the newest toys we've made in-house! They're made by people who work with parrots every day and are designed with real bird behavior in mind. Happy parrots need things to chew, shred, explore, and destroy, and that's exactly what these toys encourage. These toys are already receiving rave reviews from the store birds and staff birds!

All of our toys are made from parrot-safe favorites like pine, balsa, cork, mahogany pods, paper, and cardboard. All hardware is parrot-safe stainless steel, and all colors come from food-safe dyes.

We're really excited about these new toys, and even more excited to watch the birds enjoy them. Stop by the shop to check them out in person, and see which one your bird might love!

We have some exciting updates to share!

First up, new toys have landed! These toys are handmade right here in the store. No middleman means we can keep prices reasonable and adjust things as we go. Every toy has been tested and approved by our store birds and staff birds... sometimes a little TOO enthusiastically. (A certain naughty moustache parakeet may or may not have "appropriated" a couple for personal use. Rude.)

All of the dyes we're using are food-safe and the materials are parrot favorites such as balsa, cross-cut pine, wicker, cardboard, and other shreddable favorites. We're actively paying attention to how parrots actually play with the toys and tweaking designs and adding new designs accordingly.

We've also started carrying Harrison's again due to popular demand! We'll continue to gradually expand the selection of foods we offer, so stay tuned.

We now carry merch by local artist and parront Tyler Broussard! At present we carry stickers and bags, but we'll eventually expand to t-shirts on demand. New designs are also in the works. If you don't have a bird but want to support the store, this is the way.

Finally, our java trees are now at the lowest price we've EVER had: $400 each. They're great trees but they take up a lot of floor space, so please help us get them out of here.

Meet Pippin and Ziggy!

Ziggy, our black-headed caique, is bold, curious, and loves meeting new people. Bonus points if it involves "surfing" on hands or shoulders. Ziggy's confident, goofy, and outgoing personality is classic caique.

Pippin, our white-bellied caique, is more reserved with strangers and is unusually snuggly for a caique. Once you gain their trust, this little one just wants to gaze into your eyes and get scritches. (You haven't seen "cute" until you see happy, fluffy caique cheeks!) Pippin is still a caique though and is every bit as playful as Ziggy.

Caiques tend to be incredibly active and playful; we say they come precaffeinated! One of their favorite activities is hanging upside down from a hanging toy, sparring, and all the while shrieking playful taunts at each other in caique. Caiques are intelligent and social, and thrive under the care of people who enjoy birds with big personality and boundless energy.

These two would each do well as individual birds in the right homes. That said, we would LOVE to see them go home together if the right family comes along! They aren't a bonded pair and don't NEED to stay together, but they get along beautifully and make a really fun pair.

Meet our baby bare-eyed cockatoo! Also known as the Little Corella, this is one of several Corella species found in Australia. The bare-eyed cockatoo is known for being incredibly smart and mechanically-minded; they have been observed undoing latches and unscrewing street fixtures in the wild! These guys are a huge commitment, as they can live for over 50 years with proper care.

Our baby bare-eyed is incredibly playful and loves to play-fight with toys and hang upside down from perches just for the fun of it. Like most cockatoos, this little one craves attention and snuggles. They're also showing signs of becoming a total dancing queen! Their favorite perch? Atop your head, of course.

Come on in and make a new friend... or perhaps even a new family member.
