🐾 Patient Success Story🐾

Meet Onyx.✨ He was found hanging vertically by his pelvis in a tree by his owners. When he presented to WVRC, he was laterally recumbent, had a low temperature, and was not moving his hind feet when stimulated.

His prognosis was guarded, but over his stay with us, he became more alert and slowly began to improve. Onyx began to eat, his temperature normalized, and he started to get his personalized back. He started using his hind limbs as well, but his ability to use his left hind limb was still uncertain.

Since being at home, Onyx has improved and can walk on both his right and left hind legs. His owners even shared a video of him playing with Bramble, his partner in crime at home!🧡

✨Patient Success Story✨

Meet Dobby! He came to WVRC Ozaukee after his owner noticed he had facial swelling and hives after the ingestion of a bee🐝

Dobby was quickly assessed by a doctor and given an injection of a steroid and Benadryl, and after 30 minutes, his swelling and hives began to go down!

One of the most common conditions we deal with during the summer months is allergic reactions, especially around bees.
If you notice facial swelling, weakness, pale gums, or collapse, it’s important you seek veterinary attention in case it becomes an emergency like anaphylaxis. Fast recognition and treatment can make all the difference!

✨Patient Success Story✨

Meet Jasper❤️ He presented to our emergency room after being near an explosive fire that took place in a barn by his house. It’s believed that Jasper was outside the barn when it happened.

After a thorough examination, it was found that Jasper had developed corneal ulcers in both his eyes and there was concern for smoke inhalation. He was initially placed on oxygen, and after spending the night, was able to be fully weaned off!🌟

The following day, Jasper was able to go home and be reunited with his family! We were all happy to see him make a full recovery, and wish the same for his human family members who were also caught in the fire.

A healthy dog or cat at rest typically breathes 15 to 30 times per minute. Counting your pet's breaths while they are sleeping or relaxing can help you spot changes early.

Breathing problems can become serious quickly. Knowing your pet's normal breathing rate can help you recognize when something is not right.
