Last night, I went to feed a mama that I THOUGHT lost all her kittens a couple weeks ago. After a late night party next door, this mama refused to eat for 2 days and wouldn't move. Her kittens were of age to be walking and yet, there was no sight of them early morning, during the day, or in the evening until now! And there's 5!! I have no clue how she convinces them not to leave their nest but some how she does. And like her last litter, dad is always close by willing to help.
Typically I'm not excited when I see more kittens born on the streets. And, truth be told, I'm not this time either but they are here. This mom however, is the most loving feline mom I've ever seen. If you follow the page, this is the mom of a kitten that was hit by a car and the colony cried for hours. Immediately after losing her kitten, mom was pregnant with this litter and dad has been by her side the entire time. He even let's her eat as much as she wants before approaching the dish to see if there is extra. I can't touch her. She still hisses at me before eating each meal. I've tried trapping but she's too smart for that. She lives in a yard of an abandoned house with an eight foot metal fence all around it. Smart kitty! Not a fun rescue... but I'm determined, this will happen! Once these kittens are old enough..
