Our foster Joplin is still waiting for his forever home.
*He's 10 yrs young. He's got a lot of life left in him. He LOVES TOYS! He'll chase them and shake them up and it is so entertaining for him and for us.
*We're told he's a shih tzu but I think he's mixed with something else too. Maybe part Havanese or Lhasa apso, but those are just guesses. He has these big front paws and thick, wavy, non-shedding fur. He's a breeder release from AL. He's not a fan of having his head touched but otherwise is okay with being pet. He's around 15 pounds of fluff and love.
*He sleeps on the bed next to his foster mom, but needs a lift to get up there. He sleeps through the night, even when his foster siblings don't!
*He's doing great with house training. He still has an occasional accident but does his business outside 98% of the time. We started out with belly bands but he doesn't need them any longer. He LOVES walking and does well on the leash, however, he doesn't like the process of putting on his harness and leash and will try to get away while putting them on. We walk him a half mile once or twice a day but could go further. He's a fast walker and doesn't get tired easily. Otherwise, he goes out in our fenced yard. There are a couple steps to get there that he handles on his own, but he hasn't taken to a full flight of stairs yet.
*He loves to keep his foster mom in sight. He lays at the edge of the kitchen while I'm cooking, in the bedroom while I'm getting ready, or in the grass nearby when I'm doing yardwork. He always greets me with a wagging tail and a happy face.
*He loves other dogs and would be happiest in a home with another dog, but would also be okay as long as his forever mom or dad are home most of the time. Joplin follows, plays and naps with our other dogs and he's friendly when meeting other dogs and their people. I don't know how he is with cats, but I think he'd probably be fine with them.
*He loves food (and treats!)
*He's great in the car and would happily travel everywhere with you.
*He likes to sleep on his back and sometimes snores.
*If he catches sight of the end of his tail, he barks and chases his tail in a circle. He's goofy and adorable.
Joplin is still waiting for his forever home. He's sweet and such a good buddy. We wish we could keep him but know he'll be great with someone else too.
