The native Lakota called it Makoshika. The settlers and early prospectors called it the Bad Lands. A treasure for conservationists then and a treasure to conservationists today!

I encourage everybody to come visit to gain a perspective of the landscape and therefore better understanding of the aims of my breeding program. It’s big, untamed territory….vast, harsh, unforgiving, yet beautiful.

The L Litter is 13 months old and off to a great start.

In particular the 3 females of the litter have my attention and that is taking nothing away from the males! They are very balanced with talent and have the type of desire, commitment, and will power to locate game I look for in potential breed stock. Again, my kennel mantra is the dogs I am hunting over should be reliable and responsible for taking the handler/gun to the game….if the handler/gun needs to lead them to the game, their value greatly diminishes. The very vast and open landscapes of the American West which I occupy and cherish during the fall simply require dogs who search with industry and have an emphasis on continuous expansion to be remotely effective! They also need to carry themselves with great economy of movement, promoting endurance and injury prevention. Safe to say these three bi***es have “it”!

Late season South Dakota bird hunt in the books! Constant intense wind, arctic temps, and brutal ground conditions made it quite a challenge for man and Drahthaar beast alike! Hunts like these further render my commitment to produce mentally and physically tough dogs with relentless desire to find game before and after the shot because frankly the others just don’t cut it!
