She barely had a life… and she was already running out of time.

This beautiful, emaciated girl—only about 2 years old—was sitting in a shelter, incredibly skinny and fragile, and headed toward euthanasia. Another day, another dumped stray needing a life line ….

Two years old.
That’s it. 🥺

She hadn’t even had the chance to really LIVE yet.

But when we saw her, we couldn’t let her story end there. She reminded us of Lola …. Lola came to the shelter looking VERY similar to this …a little older but emaciated , severely neglected and mistreated ….but with a tail that would NOT stop wagging 🥺🥺💙💙

I recently saw an IG meme talking about a dog taking a walk to the euthanasia room happily not knowing where he was going to only realize it was his end …..I didn’t want that to happen to this little girl so we pulled her. 🙏💙

And the most amazing part? Despite everything her little body has been through, she is SO happy and full of life. Her tail wags, her spirit shines, and she seems genuinely grateful for every bit of love and attention she receives.

She deserved a chance.

A chance to eat until she’s full.
A soft bed to sleep on.
A safe place to heal.
Someone to show her that people can be kind.
And most importantly… a chance to finally discover what life is supposed to be.

We cannot wait until you get here ! Life will only get easier from here my little friend ….

Trust me, your life is just beginning and we’re going to make sure you get to live it. 🐾

Because sometimes all a dog needs is for someone to say, “Yes. We’ll save you.”

One year ago today, three tiny black puppies arrived at Blueberry Hill Farm and Rescue — fragile, hungry, and completely dependent on us for their next meal. 🍼 Another day, another dumped puppy litter ….thank you Ray Hines for going the extra mile to save them …

They came to us as three little bottle babies, and from the very beginning, they were inseparable. We watched them grow together, learn to eat, play, wrestle, nap in a puppy pile, and discover what it meant to feel safe and loved.

We shared their journey with you as a little litter of three… and today, one year later, we get to celebrate something even more beautiful. 🥹

They each have their forever families and their very own happily ever after.

Three tiny lives that started out needing someone to believe in them are now living the lives they deserved all along.

Looking back at their puppy pictures today, it’s hard to believe how much they’ve grown. But one thing hasn’t changed — those three bottle babies will always hold a very special place in our hearts. 💙💙🫐

💙 GERTIE’S GOLDEN YEARS START NOW 💙

Meet sweet Gertie. 🥺

Gertie is a senior girl who found herself in an overcrowded shelter after being picked up as a stray. The person who found her wasn’t able to keep her, and with the shelter overwhelmed, Gertie ended up on the euthanasia list.

A senior dog. A stray. No family coming forward. And running out of time.

We couldn’t let her story end there.

So we pulled Gertie and brought her home to Blueberry Hill Farm and Rescue, where she can finally relax, feel safe, and enjoy the life she deserves. 💙

Gertie will be joining our senior sanctuary family—Roady, Lola, Moose, Poppy, Sadie, Felix, and Oscar—on what we’re now calling Blueberry Fields, a special part of our rescue dedicated to giving our older dogs a peaceful place to live out their golden years. 🫐🌿🐾

Here, they don’t have to worry about being overlooked because of their age. They get soft beds, good food, sunshine, companionship, and most importantly… love.

Gertie doesn’t have to wonder what happens tomorrow anymore. Her tomorrow is here at Blueberry Hill with us ….

🐻💙Teddy Bear Fund Recipient 💙🐻

Today, the Teddy Bear Fund was able to help a sweet TINY girl who was suffering from pyometra, a serious and potentially life-threatening infection of the uterus. The family reached out and needed help asap…🥺

Thanks to your generosity, she was able to receive the veterinary care she needed and be safely spayed and medically treated.🩷 She is home now recovering with her family…..

This is exactly why the Teddy Bear Fund exists — to help families who need a little extra support getting necessary veterinary care for their beloved pets.

What have I learned from rescuing?

What I didn’t realize was that every animal would rescue a little piece of my heart, too.

They have taught me that healing doesn’t happen on our schedule. That sometimes progress looks like simply coming out of the crate, taking a few steps, eating a meal, or allowing yourself to be near someone who is trying to love you.
it’s taught me that fear can look like hiding. It can look like trembling, crouching, trying to bury your food, or desperately searching for a place that feels safe.

It has taught me that you cannot rush trust.

You have to earn it.

You have to show up every day and quietly say, “I’m still here. You are safe. I’m not going to hurt you. And I’m not giving up on you.”

There are no shortcuts with animals who has spent her life being afraid.

But then, one day, something changes.

A little longer outside the crate.
A little more curiosity.
A little more eye contact.
A tiny wag of the tail.

And you realize that the dog you thought was broken was never broken at all.

They were surviving.
They just needed someone willing to be patient enough to let them learn how to live.

Rescue has taught me that sometimes the greatest transformations aren’t the ones we can see.

Sometimes it’s simply watching a terrified dog begin to believe that tomorrow might be better than yesterday.

And when they finally trusts you enough to let you love them…

there is no greater gift to me ….

This is why we rescue.

Because every dog and horse deserves the chance to discover that the world can be a safe place.

And sometimes, they teach us far more than we could ever teach them.
