If you have lost a pet, or are looking to adopt a pet or have just found a pet, please give us a call or send

us a message as soon as you can!! We are here for the animals of the Eastern Shore, so help us spread the word to get the lost found or the found back home, or just the homeless in loving homes!! It has been brought to our attention that our hours may be a little confusing to some. We are open for INTAKE Tuesday - Friday 12noon-4pm and Saturday from 9am-12noon. For ANIMAL VISITATION, ADOPTION, and RECLAIM of your pet we are open by appointment and do our best to accommodate all schedules! Thank you!

*** Adoption pending***

🖤 Meet Stony — a heart too big for the kennel, a new surrender

- 🏡 Stony didn’t lose his home because of anything he did. His owner became medically compromised and had to make an impossible choice. This boy went from a warm couch to a loud kennel overnight, and he’s struggling to understand why.
- 😢 At just 5 years old, the stress is already showing. He’s gentle, confused, and trying so hard to stay hopeful.
- 🐾 Dog‑friendly, affectionate, playful, and housebroken even now — he’s doing everything he can to be a good boy in a place that scares him.
- 💉 His rabies certificate will be updated next week, but you can apply now to meet him.
- ⚡ He’s a 78‑lb high‑energy sweetheart who jumps when excited and does the cutest little “happy chatter.” Because he’s big and enthusiastic, very young kids may not be the best fit.
- 🚨 With his loving nature and home‑ready manners, a rescue could pull him quickly — and he deserves a family of his own again.

Text us at 757-709-8103 or email [email protected] to meet him!

****adopted****

Please pause for a moment — Assistant to the Branch Manager truly needs help.

This sweet boy is neutered, dog friendly, and trying so hard, but shelter life is wearing him down. He’s becoming depressed, and it’s clear he needs a home where he can feel safe again. He's just a year old.

He would blossom with:
- A fenced yard or secure dog run
- A friendly dog companion
- A family who can give him comfort, routine, and reassurance

He is a genuinely good dog who’s hurting, not broken.
He just needs someone to see him.

If you’ve been thinking about adopting — please consider this boy. He deserves a chance to feel joy again.

🚨 Brave Buddy Alert: Meet 95! 🚨

Today around noon, Brave Buddy Shannon will be out and about in Onancock and then making a stop at Tractor Supply with one very special passenger… 95. ❤️

This sweet girl is around 6 years old and has the gentlest soul. She’s spent her entire life outdoors, and her body shows the wear of a life that hasn’t always been easy. Despite it all, she remains kind, loving, and grateful for every bit of attention she receives.

95 isn’t asking for much. A soft bed. A safe home. A family to love her.

If you’re in the area, please stop by and say hello. Give her some pets, some kind words, and let her feel what it’s like to be noticed. She deserves that and so much more.

🐾 6 years old
🐾 Sweet and gentle nature
🐾 Ready for a family of her own
🐾 Desperately needs out of the shelter environment

Could you be the one to change her story?

📱 To adopt, foster, or rescue, text 757-709-8103 or email [email protected] for an application.

🚨 CODE RED: WE ARE OUT OF KENNEL SPACE 🚨
Our kennels officially filled yesterday, and several of our dogs are becoming increasingly kennel stressed. While every dog is still getting their required exercise and outings, the noise and full capacity are making it hard for some of them to cope.

We are urgently seeking FOSTERS and ADOPTERS to help us make space and give our most stressed dogs a chance to decompress and thrive.

---

🐾 HOPS & BARLEY — Our Unicorn Adopter Needed
Hops & Barley has been with us far too long, and the stress is taking a toll on him.

- About a year old, neutered, fully vetted
- Strong, athletic, and would benefit from a fenced yard
- Loves toys and can entertain himself for hours
- A gentle giant who melts for head rubs
- Needs to be the only pet (no dogs, no cats)
- Best with kids 10+

He is such a good dog — he just needs someone to finally see him.

---

🐾 HAZEL — Resilient, joyful, and ready for her future
Hazel’s past is something we don’t often talk about, but it matters: she was seized from a chain so short she couldn’t even lie down to reach food or water. Despite everything, she is pure sunshine.

- Just over a year old
- Extremely dog friendly
- Pulls on leash, but a no‑pull harness works wonders
- Loves everyone she meets
- Because she zooms like a rocket, toddlers may feel overwhelmed, but she settles beautifully

Hazel deserves a soft place to land after everything she’s survived.

---

🐾 95 & BUSTER — Our semi‑senior sweethearts
These two came to us after their owner’s mother passed away and he was forced to move out of state. He loved them deeply and did the best he could, but sometimes a lack of resources or education means dogs don’t get the socialization or preventatives they need.

Both need to begin heartworm treatment within the next two weeks, and we have nowhere for them to go.

- Deeply loving, gentle souls
- Need only‑dog homes due to limited early socialization
- Buster may do well with a calm dog — we’re happy to try
- They cannot go together (typical sibling rivalry), though they walk nicely side‑by‑side

They deserve a chance to start the next chapter of their lives with comfort and dignity.

---

🐾 ASSISTANT TO THE BRANCH MANAGER — Returned and heartbroken
This sweet boy was returned because his former adopter struggled with his need for exercise and structure, which led to stress‑chewing. None of this was his fault.

- Needs a dog friend to help his confidence
- Dog friendly, cat friendly, kid friendly
- Neutered and fully vetted
- Originally trapped with his brother after surviving months on the run in the freezing cold
- Since being returned, he has been deeply depressed, and while outings help, he needs a home to truly heal

He has come so far — he just needs someone to believe in him again.

💔 WE ARE BURSTING AT THE SEAMS
These dogs need out before kennel stress takes over completely. If you can foster, adopt, or even share this post, you are helping save a life.

We cannot do this without our community.

🐾 BESTIE ALERT: Hazel & Bubbles 🐾

The dynamic duo you never knew you needed.

Meet Hazel and Bubbles, two pups with totally different personalities who balance each other beautifully — and who are each looking for a home where they can shine.

🌟 Hazel — The Confident Adventurer
Hazel is 1 year old, spayed, dog‑friendly, and ready to take on the world with her big smile and bigger heart.
She’s social, playful, and always up for fun — the kind of dog who makes every day feel brighter.

💛 Bubbles — The Gentle Soul Who Blossoms With Friends
Bubbles is a 7‑month‑old boxer mix who starts off shy, hand‑shy, and cautious. He’s also a flight risk until he feels safe.
But with another dog by his side? He comes alive. His confidence grows, his personality blooms, and you get to watch the sweetest transformation unfold.

We’ll share more of his backstory privately with approved adopters.

🐶 Why They’re Perfect Together
Hazel brings the confidence.
Bubbles brings the heart.
Together, they’re the perfect example of how dogs lift each other up.
