🐾 Meet Bertha & Norman! 🐾

These two sweet foster kittens have been keeping their foster family smiling, and now they’re both hoping to find families of their own!

🖤 Bertha is a beautiful black female who absolutely loves to cuddle. She’s a gentle, affectionate little girl who is happiest when she’s getting attention or curled up next to someone.

🐯 Norman is a handsome medium-haired tabby with a fun, playful personality. He loves chasing toys, exploring, and making everyone laugh with his silly antics.

The two have become great friends while in foster care and can often be found playing together or taking a nap side by side. While they don’t have to be adopted together, they sure do enjoy each other’s company!

If you’ve been thinking about adding a new furry family member, Bertha or Norman could be the perfect fit. They have so much love to give and are ready to start their next chapter with a family of their own.

If you’re interested in adopting either of these sweet kittens, please contact 757-709-8103

❤️ Please help us by sharing this post so Bertha and Norman can find the loving homes they deserve!

🌧️ Rain: 48 Pounds of Pure Perfection Looking for Her Forever

If you’re searching for a dog who’s the perfect mix of gentle, goofy, and grateful, Rain is your girl. At just 48 lb, she’s compact, sweet, and won’t get much bigger — truly the ideal size for couch cuddles and yard romps.

💛 Rain’s Best Qualities
- Dog friendly — but she needs the right match; she doesn’t always gel with female dogs
- Cat friendly
- Kid friendly
- Easy walker — she’s calm, steady, and a dream on leash
- 3 years old — past the puppy chaos but still playful and full of joy

🌧️ Her Story — And Why She Needs You
Rain has been rehomed three times in just five short months. When we picked her up as a stray, her body told the story of how unkind life had been to her recently. She deserved stability, love, and safety — and she didn’t get it.

But Rain never stopped trying. She never stopped loving. She never stopped hoping.

Let’s not let her down again. This girl has fought hard to stay gentle in a world that hasn’t always been gentle to her.

📱 Meet Rain
Text 757‑709‑8103 to set up a meet & greet. Rain is ready for her forever — she just needs someone to finally choose her.

And today… we want to fill this page with JOY.

🐺💙 Brave Buddy Recap: River Stole the Show at The Great Pocomoke Fair! 💙🐺

River had an AMAZING time at The Great Pocomoke Fair last night! He met so many wonderful people and soaked up every bit of love and attention he could get.

This handsome 6-year-old Husky is truly something special. Despite the crowds, constant attention, and lots of excited kids, River stayed calm, gentle, and happy the entire time. He greeted everyone with kindness, listened beautifully, and proved what an incredible companion he is.

✨ Here’s why we can’t stop bragging about River:
🐺 6 years old
✂️ Already neutered
🐶 Dog friendly
🐱 Cat friendly (as long as they aren’t tiny)
👧 Absolutely loves kids and previously lived with a family
🚗 Excellent car rider
🦮 Walks on a leash like an absolute dream
🧠 Amazing listener who follows commands

🚨 FOUND DOG — DO YOU RECOGNIZE HIM?

This intact male dog was found near the Virginia/Maryland state line sometime in July, according to the individuals who picked him up. They kept him without reporting the find and now no longer wish to hold him.

This is a reminder that it is illegal to keep a found animal without reporting it. A found animal is not legally yours, and holding onto one without following the proper steps can prevent reunification, delay investigations, and put the animal at risk.

📌 Your legal obligations when you find an animal
Under Virginia law, you must:

- Report the found animal to the local animal shelter within 48 hours
- Report the found animal to the Sheriff’s Department in Northampton or Accomack County within 48 hours

These reports create the official FOUND record that allows Animal Control to search for the owner, document the circumstances, and ensure the animal is handled safely and legally.

📌 Why this matters
When found animals are kept quietly, moved around, or given away:

- Families searching for their pets cannot be reunited
- Animals needing medical care or legal documentation fall through the cracks
- Animal Control cannot track or respond appropriately
- The finder may unknowingly violate state law

If you recognize this dog or have information about his possible owner, please contact the shelter immediately or call/text 757-709-8103

📢 Eastern Shore Community — The Cats Need You
Our cat room is at capacity. Despite recent rescue efforts, kittens continue to arrive, our longer‑term residents are growing into teenagers, and adult cats wait with no end in sight. Meanwhile, requests for surrenders, trapping, and intake of strays are unrelenting.

We are the only open‑intake facility for the Eastern Shore of Virginia, and we are at a breaking point. Adoptions are the only solution. These cats cannot grow up here, and difficult decisions will be unavoidable in the coming weeks if space is not created.

➡️ If you have submitted an application and have not heard back, please text 757‑709‑8103 to ensure we did not miss your application.

🐾 Adoption Details
- Our facility covers the microchip, rabies certificate (if age‑appropriate), and core vaccinations.
- We do not cover spay/neuter due to lack of funding. However, most of our adult cats are already spayed or neutered.
- Because spay/neuter is not covered, any animal that is not yet spayed/neutered must remain within our jurisdiction. They cannot cross the Chesapeake Bay Bridge into Virginia Beach or cross into Maryland.
- Any animal that is already spayed/neutered may cross state lines and be adopted outside our jurisdiction.
- We have many wonderful adults and teenagers ready now — they cannot grow up here.

❤️ We Need Adopters Only
Cat room hours: Today through Friday, 12:00–4:00 p.m.
Applications strongly encouraged in advance: 757‑709‑8103.

🍀 Meet Guinness — 1–2 Years Old, Sweet as Pie 🍀

Guinness is the definition of a good‑time boy. Estimated at 1–2 years old, he’s sweet as pie, loves to romp in the yard, and is always down for playtime followed by snuggles. He’s the perfect mix of fun and affection.

He’s a confident guy who prefers to be the boss, so he’d do best with no other dogs unless they have a calmer, easygoing energy.
Cats are currently unknown.

Guinness is young, loving, and so ready for a home that appreciates his big personality and bigger heart.

📱 To meet him, text 757‑709‑8103
