I know a lot of people are against cutting eggs, I try not to do it but sometimes the curiosity gets the better of me. I cut this clutch at 57 days. This cutting reminded me of one big pro of cutting - as I opened this egg I knew it didn’t look right. I didn’t understand what I was looking at. That is because the yolk is in the wrong place, it should be underneath the baby. Instead it is beside and upwards and it was visible to me. It seems the reason for this is because its umbilical cord is wrapped around its body. I SOS texted a few more experienced friends and decided I should try to free the baby now. It was actually easier than I thought, I found which side of the baby was closer (its tail) and slid the cord down until it was off its body, then I had to gently push the yolk back to the bottom. I wasn’t going to touch the yolk, but as soon as I freed the cord the first time the baby put its tail right back into it. So I knew I had to move the yolk where it’s supposed to be and the cord will move away from the baby and it should not happen again. This was correct and when I checked the baby it was doing great and everything looked normal 24 hours later. I’m excited to see these babies safely out of the egg 🥳 - MaryBeth
