Just wanted to give yall an update!

I was discharged from the hospital last Thursday so I’ve been home for a week!

I’m slowly getting better, but definitely not 💯 yet!

It is still undetermined when exactly I will be back to doing my in home services. As you know, I am usually down on the ground and bending at the waist a lot when doing nail trims! But with an incision that starts above my belly button and has about 40 staples, it will be a bit before I can bend over safely.

I will hopefully be back soon, but thank you to all of my amazing clients and friends who have reached out to check on me. I appreciate you so much!!

(Here’s a cute picture of my little nursemaid, Ethyl, who was very excited to see her mama when she got home.)

I have had some clients reach out and ask how they can help while I am home recovering.

One of my sweet rescue volunteers asked to set up a meal train for us while I’m home recovering. I’ve had people ask about bringing over dinners and such so here is a sign up.

Thank you so much for everyone reaching out and checking on me. I’m so happy to be home. I don’t know when I’ll be back to doing appointments since they can be rather physical at times so we are just going to play it by ear.

Brandy does so much for the community with her dog rescue and has unfortunately gone under the weather with an emergency surgery. Let’s take some stress off of her plate!

I have never been so happy to see a cup of warm chicken broth. I was advanced to a clear liquid diet yesterday and today I’m moving to liquids! Surgeon said that I might be able to go home tomorrow depending on how I feel. I’m just ready for my own bed. He also said he is going to discontinue my IV fluids and IV antibiotics and switch me to oral meds.

I’m still in quite a bit of pain when I get to moving around. Standing up is quite painful. I did make a lap around the floor yesterday so that was good.

Well this is not how I wanted my week to start….

Sunday morning at 3am, I was awoken by the WORST abdominal pain I’ve ever had in my life…. Way worse than 2 C-sections and a hysterectomy combined…

I woke my husband up and had him drive me to the ER. After pain meds and a CT scan it was determined I had an infection in my abdomen. And I needed surgery immediately.

My amazing surgeon, Dr. Heon, said he has only seen 3 other cases in his career as severe as mine.

I had a baseball sized mass that ruptured and was spilling pus into my abdominal cavity. It was likely a diverticulum. We won’t know for sure until pathology comes back.

I am likely to be hospitalized for 4-6 days. And won’t be released from medical leave for several weeks since my incision goes straight down my midline.

With that being said…. I will have to cancel all appointments for the next few weeks until I have a better timeline. I will be checking in you everyone in the next few days.

Please be patient during this time as I navigate this unplanned surgery.

One of my most used phrases is “The cobbler’s children have no shoes”….

If you don’t know what that means, it means I’m old 🤣

Basically, for those of us in Vet Med, our personal pets always get cared for last on simple stuff. Like nail trims. 🫣

I finally took the time to get my personal pets, Gertie and Ethyl, their mani/pedis. Thankfully my girls are sweethearts and always sit so well.

Please help us welcome our new groomer, Kaitlyn, who started today! 🐾✂️
Her first pet, Allie, absolutely loved her spa day and left looking and smelling fabulous. We’re so excited to have Kaitlyn on our team and can’t wait for all the fresh, fluffy pups she’ll make look their best! 🛁🐶💙

Sedation and anxiety meds before a visit are completely acceptable and I applaud this owner for making sure his pet is comfortable and the vet staff are safe!
