Huge win for hunters and freedom. The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has ruled that game wardens cannot simply walk onto clearly posted, gated or otherwise protected private property without a warrant. The case involved two hunting clubs covering roughly 5,500 acres, where wardens allegedly entered the land 15 to 22 times without permission and even placed a surveillance camera on one property for 78 days while looking for evidence of illegal elk feeding.

This ruling effectively ends Pennsylvania’s open-fields doctrine on private land where the owner has taken reasonable steps to keep people out. Wardens can still act during emergencies, pursue violations they can see from public property or obtain a warrant based on probable cause, but a hunting license does not erase your constitutional rights. Posted private land is still private land, and government officials cannot treat every hunter and landowner like a suspect just because wildlife might be present.

New York is banning kids from hunting with their parents. Erie County Executive Mark Poloncarz just vetoed a law that would have allowed 12- and 13-year-olds to hunt deer with a fi***rm or crossbow under adult supervision. That means a parent who believes their own child is mature enough to sit beside them in a deer blind, learn gun safety, and legally hunt a deer still gets overruled by one politician’s personal feelings. And that’s the part hunters should be furious about. New York’s own DEC data shows this youth hunting program has had five years with zero hunting-related shooting incidents, zero safety violations, and zero license revocations, but Poloncarz vetoed it anyway because he personally doesn’t feel 12- and 13-year-olds should be allowed to do it. That’s not safety. That’s anti-hunting fear dressed up like public policy. Parents should be raising their kids, not Mark Poloncarz. The idea that government can tell you what activities you are allowed to do with your kid is so anti American I don’t understand how it’s legal.

VICTORY! Dangerous anti-hunting language removed from the Farm Bill!

The language buried in the bill that raised serious concerns about hunting with dogs has now been taken out and that didn’t happen by accident.

Between posts like mine that had nearly 3 million views and the work of the Sportsmen’s Alliance pushing directly on lawmakers, the pressure worked. That overly broad language, like “dogs pursuing live animals in an open field”is no longer in the bill.

It proves something important. When sportsmen speak up and shine a light on bad language, it can be stopped before it becomes law.

Stay alert. This fight isn’t over, but this round goes to the hunters.

I got some pushback on yesterday’s post about the proposed hunting dog ban, so here’s the exact language from the Greyhound Protection Act.

It bans what it calls “open field coursing,” defined as dogs pursuing live animals in an open field.

By that definition, running beagles on rabbits fits. Turning hounds loose on bear fits. Running coyotes with dogs fits. That’s not speculation—that’s exactly how the language reads.

There’s no clear protection for lawful hunting in that definition, and that leaves it open to interpretation.

That’s why this needs to be fixed or removed.

STATE DOG? Senate Bill 37 would give the Treeing Walker Coonhound the recognition that supporters say the breed deserves. Supporters of the breed say they are fast, loud, and loyal hunting dogs with deep Kentucky roots. More below.

🚨 $132,000 Judgment for Killing a Hunting Dog 🚨

In September 2023, William Gray of Sumter County, SC, gunned down Annabelle, a hound belonging to Ernest “Burt” Causey.

Burt would rather have his dog back than any amount of money—but this month, a South Carolina judge sent a clear message: if you shoot someone’s dog, you will pay the price.

💰 Civil Court Award
• Value of Annabelle (hound): $22,000
• Punitive Damages: $110,000
👉 Total Judgment: $132,000

The judge noted that Gray’s actions showed a clear disregard for the rights and well-being of others.

⚖️ This case is proof that our hounds are not just “property” — courts are recognizing their real value, and they’re holding people accountable.

📢 If you’ve got a problem with a dog, you call law enforcement. You do not take the law into your own hands.

✊ Stand with us. Protect the hounds. Don’t shoot hunting dogs.
