NEW! From our blog:
If you've got a dog and a cat at home, be honest: which one is more overdue for a vet visit?

If it's the cat, you're not alone. Nationally, more than half of cats haven't seen a veterinarian in over a year — even though most of them are due for vaccines, parasite prevention, or a wellness exam. August 22 is National Take Your Cat to the Vet Day, started by veterinary organizations to close that gap, and it's the perfect nudge to get your cat back on the calendar.

Cats visit the vet far less often than dogs — and it's putting their health at risk. Learn why routine checkups matter and how Animal General Hospital can help.

❤️❤️ADOPTED!! ❤️❤️

Look at this face.🥹🐱

This male kitten came to us as a stray & after being found nearby and now he is just waiting for someone to say "yes."

He's a kitten but his exact age isn't known. He is very friendly and cuddly - a little shy in his cage, but when you hold him, his personality shines! He has already been stealing hearts around our animal hospital. All he needs now is a family...is it yours?

Come meet him yourself. Call us at (305) 887-1764.🐱

Healthy Smile, Happy Pet! 🦷🐾

Did you know your furry friend's oral health is crucial to their overall well-being? Just like humans, cats can suffer from dental diseases that lead to pain, tooth loss, and even more serious health issues affecting their heart, kidneys, and liver!

Cleaning your cat's teeth regularly isn't just about fresh breath; it's a vital part of preventative care. Dental disease can be sneaky, often showing no obvious signs until it's advanced. That's why professional cleanings under anesthesia allow us to thoroughly examine their mouth, clean below the gumline, and address any hidden problems.

Here's why routine dental care for your pet is a game-changer:
- Prevents painful dental disease: No more hidden pain!
- Avoids tooth loss: Keep those pearly whites strong.
- Boosts overall health: Protect against systemic diseases.
- Freshens breath: Cuddle closer without the "dog breath" woes!

Invest in your pet's health with regular check-ups and cleanings. Their comfort and longevity depend on it!

In our blog, you can learn more about why regular teeth cleaning is so important for your beloved dog or cat:

☀️🐾 Summer grilling season is in full swing, and while it's fun for us, not all cookout foods are safe for our furry friends! We know it's tempting to share, but a little knowledge can go a long way in keeping your pup healthy and happy. Special thanks to our partner, ElleVet, for the great social media post idea.

**🥩 What your pup CAN have (in moderation!):**
Small amounts of plain, deboned, cooked meats like chicken or beef. Think lean, unseasoned, and definitely no bones!

**🚫 What to AVOID:**
Salty, processed meats (like hot dogs or sausages), anything with onions or garlic, corn on the cob (choking hazard!), excessive fats, and anything sweetened with xylitol.

Always remember, when in doubt, it's best to stick to their regular dog food or vet-approved treats! If your pet accidentally eats something they shouldn't, don't hesitate to call us.

What are your go-to safe summer treats for your dog? Share in the comments! 👇
