Bichons are known for their cheerful personalities, affectionate nature, and signature fluffy white coats. They were bred to be companion dogs, so it’s no surprise that many of them absolutely love being with their people! 🥰

🐶 A few fun Bichon facts:
• Their name comes from French and is often translated as “curly-haired lap dog.”
• Bichons are known for being playful, social, and people-oriented.
• Their soft, curly coat continually grows and sheds very little compared with many breeds.
• They’re intelligent little dogs and can be surprisingly athletic underneath all that fluff!
• Their adorable round “powder-puff” appearance takes regular grooming to maintain.

✂️ Bichon Grooming 101

That beautiful fluffy coat needs quite a bit of upkeep! Regular brushing and combing help prevent tangles and matting, especially around the ears, legs, tail, and areas where the legs meet the body.

Most Bichons benefit from professional grooming about every 4–6 weeks, along with brushing and combing at home between appointments. Regular grooming also keeps their eyes, ears, nails, skin, and coat in great condition.

With all the swimming, outdoor adventures, humidity, dirt, and extra shedding that come with summer, keeping up with your dog’s regular grooming routine is especially important!

✂️ Why summer grooming matters:
• Regular brushing and deshedding removes loose undercoat and helps keep air circulating through the coat.
• Mats hold moisture close to the skin and can hide irritation, hot spots, and other skin problems.
• Dogs who love to swim are especially prone to tangles and matting when their coat repeatedly gets wet and dries without being brushed and combed.
• Keeping paw pads and nails maintained helps with comfort and traction during all those summer adventures.
• Routine baths help remove dirt, allergens, excess oils, and all the things our dogs pick up while enjoying the outdoors.

🐾 A few Cocker Spaniel grooming facts:

Bentley stays on a 5-week grooming schedule, which helps keep his coat healthy, comfortable, and mat-free.

Doodle and doodle-mix coats require regular maintenance:

🐶 Why do Cockapoos look so different?

Cockapoos are a cross between a Cocker Spaniel and a Poodle, and every puppy inherits a unique combination of genes from both parents. Unlike purebred dogs, there isn’t one “correct” coat type.

You might see:
🐾 Tight curls like a Poodle
🐾 Loose waves
🐾 Straight or silky coats that resemble a Cocker Spaniel
🐾 Thick, fluffy coats or finer, lighter coats

Brody is back, and this happy-go-lucky puppy never fails to put a smile on my face! 💙🐾

He’s full of energy, always ready for fun, and every visit he becomes more confident with the grooming process. Watching puppies learn that grooming can be a positive experience is one of the most rewarding parts of my job.

His mom loves keeping him in a personalized style, and I think this look suits his fun, playful personality perfectly! ✂️✨
