SoHumane is a registered not-for-profit organization dedicated to the humane treatment of companion animals in Medford, Oregon, and beyond. Today, SoHumane, a no-kill shelter, provides quality care for dogs and cats while working to make a difference in the pet overpopulation problem. Our strategic areas of focus are to provide shelter and adoption services for displaced pets while reducing pet ov

erpopulation through spay/neutering. SoHumane provides humane education opportunities for people of all ages throughout the community. Saving Train: SoHumane rescues animals from shelters where they have already been marked for death. These are healthy, adoptable animals who have been overlooked and have run out of time at overcrowded public facilities. Senior Pets: We know that senior animals (those seven years of age and older) are among the first to be euthanized in many shelters that have an abundant supply of young energetic pets. Medical Needs: By addressing treatable medical conditions, we remove one of the biggest barriers to adoption and increase the number of animals who find new homes. Executive Director - Karen Evans

Three-year-old Patty is an active, playful pup. Her goofy personality will make you laugh. Patty is a big puppy at heart. She is smart and treat motivated and will quickly learn new skills and behaviors in her forever home.

Young Kenai is full of energy and enthusiasm. He thrives on activity — whether it's a leisurely walk, a morning run, or exploring, he's always ready to go. Kenai would be the perfect companion for an active individual or family who loves spending time outside.

Six-year-old Chance is a spunky, energetic fellow. He is a good walker when he chooses to walk. Chance is an active, independent minded dog who loves attention. With his husky manners, he may be happiest in an adult only home.

Sasha is always on the go. She would love a hiking or running companion. Sasha is learning to play with other dogs and is becoming more confident in her interactions with people and pups.

The dogs at SoHumane would love to meet you!! Are you ready to adopt? Lifelong love, woofs and furry kisses await you!

Open your home - and heart - to the cats and dogs at SoHumane.

Join our dedicated community of foster volunteers and create brighter futures for the kittens, puppies, cats and dogs.

Being a foster volunteer at SoHumane is a powerful way to help animals find homes.

Even a small amount of time in a loving foster home is important.

Whether you’ve fostered before or are brand new, now is the perfect time to get involved and make a lifesaving difference.

SoHumane foster volunteers provide a safe, nurturing environment for animals to thrive, and in return they experience the joy of making a lasting difference.

This critical work is only possible when compassionate individuals say yes to opening up their heart and their home.

Meet Pebbles! This sweet 4-year-old is the best of both worlds — always up for an adventure but equally happy to snuggle up with you at home. She's house trained, great on a leash, and even loves a good road trip. What more could you ask for?

Our friends at Grange Co-op believe every pet deserves a forever home. That's why they partner with SoHumane to host adoption events — and donate wood pellets to keep our cats comfortable. Their support helps more animals find the families they've been waiting for. Thank you, Grange Co-Op!

🐾 A huge thank you to Sacred Heart Catholic School's NJHS!

We are so touched by the generosity of Sierra and the entire National Junior Honor Society chapter at Sacred Heart Catholic School right here in Medford! These incredible students organized and ran a charity bake sale at their school's Spring Sing and raised $150 to support the animals in our shelter. Every dollar will go toward food, medical care, and comfort for pets waiting for their forever homes.

"I chose SoHumane because I value your dedication to rescuing, rehabilitation, and rehoming local pets." — Sierra, 7th grade

This kind of community spirit is exactly what makes Southern Oregon such a special place. Thank you to Sierra, Cassandra, Ana, Abby, Mrs. Fuller, Ella, Bowen, Luke, Emma, Priscilla, Xavier, and Alina. You are making a real difference!
