Happy Veterinary Technician Week! 🩺🐾

This week we’re celebrating the incredible veterinary technicians and student technician who help care for our patients every single day.

From monitoring anesthesia and assisting with procedures to comforting nervous pets and supporting their families, they play an essential role in everything we do. Their knowledge, compassion, and dedication make a difference for every dog and cat that walks through our doors.

Thank you to Rachael G, Lauren, Rachel C, and student tech Taylor for everything you do for our patients, clients, and team. We appreciate you today and every day! 💚🐶🐱

Today is World Rabies Day!

Rabies is a serious and almost always fatal disease—but the good news is that it’s preventable!

Did you know? Virginia law requires dogs, cats, and ferrets 4 months of age and older to be vaccinated against rabies and kept current on their vaccination. The rabies vaccine must be administered by a licensed veterinarian.

Even indoor-only pets need a rabies vaccine! Unexpected encounters with wildlife, especially bats, can happen in or around your home. Keeping your pet vaccinated provides an important layer of protection.

Unlike many diseases, rabies cannot be definitively diagnosed with a simple blood test in a living animal.

Not sure if your pet’s rabies vaccine is current? Give Rutland Animal Hospital a call—we’re happy to help keep your four-legged family members protected!
