S.A.M.S. Puppy Program

Building Confidence, Good Manners, and a Strong Foundation for Life!
Welcoming a puppy into your family is the beginning of a wonderful journey filled with love, discovery, and new experiences. The early months of a puppy’s life are especially important for shaping future behavior, building confidence, and developing the skills needed to become a well-mannered canine companion. At S.A.M.S. Dog Training Center, we believe every puppy deserves a positive educational experience that helps them succeed both at home and in the world around them.
Our S.A.M.S. Puppy Program follows the AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy curriculum and focuses on the essential skills and knowledge every puppy owner should have. Taught by an AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy Evaluator, this program helps you better understand your puppy’s developmental stages, the importance of early socialization through safe and appropriate exposure, bite inhibition, house training, and effective puppy management. We also cover exercise, problem-solving, food-bowl exercises, handling and restraint, safety and poison prevention, and other important topics to help you navigate puppy-hood with greater confidence.
Your puppy will also begin learning practical life skills, including sit, down, come, stay, wait, targeting, and loose-leash walking, along with other foundational manners. These lessons are designed to encourage positive learning, strengthen communication between you and your puppy, and help establish habits that will benefit your family for years to come.
AKC S.T.A.R. Puppy testing is optional at the conclusion of the program, providing an opportunity to celebrate your puppy’s progress and the commitment you have made to their education.

HOLIDAY MANNERS

The holiday season is a time for family, friends, cherished traditions, and making memories. But for our canine companions, the excitement of visitors, tempting holiday foods, and changes in daily routines can sometimes be overwhelming. With a little preparation and the right guidance, you can help your dog navigate the festivities with greater confidence, calmness, and good manners.

Our Holiday Manners Class is designed to help you and your dog prepare for the season ahead by developing practical skills that make a meaningful difference in everyday life. From greeting guests politely at the door to resisting the temptation to jump on visitors or help themselves to food from the table, your dog will practice valuable impulse-control skills that encourage safer, more enjoyable interactions with family and friends.

Throughout this six-week program, you'll work on essential behaviors such as sit, stay, leave it, and polite greetings, while helping your dog learn to remain focused even when exciting distractions are all around. These skills go beyond holiday gatherings; they provide a foundation for better manners and more successful experiences throughout the year.

More than a manners class, this is an opportunity to strengthen the bond you share with your dog. Through positive training experiences, you'll learn how to guide your canine companion with greater confidence, helping your dog look to you for direction when the world becomes busy or exciting. The goal is to help every member of your household—both two-legged and four-legged—enjoy a calmer, happier, and more harmonious holiday season.

SAMS PUPPY PROGRAM

S.A.M.S. PUPPY PROGRAM follows the AKC STAR PUPPY Curriculum. It is designed to help you understand the importance of early socialization(exposure), proper training, stages of development, bite inhibition, and house training. We also go over puppy management and exercise, problem-solving, food bowl exercises, handling and restraint, safety and poison control, and basic manners: sit, down, come, stay, wait, targeting, leash walking, and more! AKC STAR PUPPY Testing is optional at the end of the program. Our AKC STAR Puppy Evaluator teaches this program.

A Holiday Manners Class is designed to help your dog handle all the excitement, guests, and temptations that come with the season. From greeting visitors politely at the door to resisting the urge to jump on guests or steal food from the table, this class focuses on real-life impulse control skills that make a big difference in your home.
During the holidays, routines change and homes can get busy, which can be confusing for dogs. Our Holiday Manner Program helps your dog learn how to stay calm, focused, and well-behaved even with distractions all around. You’ll practice essential behaviors like sit, stay, leave it, and polite greetings—skills that keep your dog safe and make them a joy to have around family and friends.
Beyond manners, it’s also a wonderful bonding opportunity. Training together strengthens your relationship and helps your dog look to you for guidance when things get overwhelming. PRIVATE TRAINING/ BEHAVIOR MODIFICATION:
Looking for personalized training or help with a specific behavior challenge?
Our private one-on-one training and behavior modification program provides individualized instruction designed to meet you and your dog's unique needs. Your package includes four one-hour sessions, scheduled once a week, giving you the opportunity to build skills and confidence at a comfortable pace. All four sessions should be completed within six weeks, although exceptions may be made when needed.
