✨ The ER vet told us he probably wouldn’t survive. Today, he’s thriving. ❤️
Eleven weeks ago, Sugar was born weighing just 100 grams.
Moments after birth, we noticed a small opening near his umbilical cord that wouldn’t stop bleeding. For a newborn kitten that tiny, the amount of blood loss was terrifying. By the time we got him cleaned up, an entire tissue was soaked with blood.
While mama cat was still delivering the rest of her babies, my husband rushed him to the emergency vet in the middle of the night.
The diagnosis was grim. We were told it appeared to be a severe umbilical hernia. Surgery was estimated to have only a 25% chance of success, and without intervention he likely wouldn’t survive the week. Euthanasia was recommended.
We chose not to give up.
Instead, the opening was sealed with medical adhesive, he was started on medication, and we brought him home. For days, we lived on two-hour feeding schedules, watched every gram he gained, and worried over every drop of blood.
But Sugar never stopped fighting.
Two days ago, we brought him back for a recheck. The vet examined his abdomen over and over before finally looking at us and saying:
“This kitten is perfectly healthy. How did you ever think he had an umbilical hernia?” 😂
If only they had met him on the night he was born.
Today, Sugar is healthy, playful, affectionate, and living proof that miracles do happen.
1% luck. 99% determination. 100% miracle. ❤️✨
Now all he needs is the one thing we can’t give him forever:
A family to call his own. 🏡
Sugar is currently available and looking for his forever home.
