Fireworks may be fun for people, but for many pets, they can be one of the most stressful nights of the year.
If your pet has been prescribed a sedative or anti-anxiety medication to help manage fireworks anxiety, now is the time to plan ahead!

🐾 Schedule medication refills early — don't wait until the last minute.

🐾 Give medications exactly as directed by your veterinarian.

🐾 Create a safe, quiet space indoors away from windows and doors.

🐾 Ensure collars, tags, and microchip information are up to date in case your pet becomes frightened and escapes.

⚠️ Our medication refill requests may take up to 24–48 hours to process, especially during the busy holiday week.

Please contact us as soon as possible if your pet will need anxiety medication before Independence Day.

At McKinleyville Animal Care Center, we're committed to controlling the pet population by providing affordable spay and neuter services.

You can schedule your pet's appointment right away as long as they meet the following criteria:

✅ Under 3 years old & healthy
✅ No major questions or concerns
✅ Not pregnant
✅ Both testicles have descended
✅ Weighs under 100 LBS

Every pet will receive a brief pre-surgical exam, an IV catheter during surgery, post-operative pain medication for canines, and an Elizabethan collar to take home—all included in the cost!

Dear Clients,

We would like to inform you that during the week of June 15th through June 19th, our hospital will have several one-doctor days due to scheduling limitations. During this time, our veterinarian on staff will be balancing appointments, surgeries, emergencies, and medication approvals with limited availability.

We kindly ask clients plan ahead whenever possible, especially for:

Non-urgent appointment scheduling

Medical record requests and paperwork

Medication refills and prescription requests

Food and preventative refills

Please note that medication approvals and returned phone calls may take longer than usual during this week. We encourage clients to request refills several days in advance to help avoid interruptions in their pet’s care. Our team will continue working hard to provide the best care possible while supporting our doctor during this busy week. We sincerely appreciate your patience, understanding, and kindness as we navigate a temporarily limited schedule.
