Everyone meet Cosmo! We have really enjoyed getting to know him. Over the past few weeks there have been some warmer afternoons at the shelter. Cosmo is a smaller-sized black dog who has scouted out the cooler places around the grounds on those warm days - a shady spot near the garden while his volunteer does a little watering or the shadow under a car's bumper when his handler stops to talk to talk to another volunteer.
In between his rest stops, Cosmo is a fun boy. He is about a year and a half and is a nice size at 45 pounds. He's made some good doggie friends at the shelter and even had some outings.
One of his human friends reported on a recent outing with Cosmo: "He quietly lay in the back of my car to and from the shelter. We took a stroll around the plaza to maximize human exposure. Didn't blink an eye at any of it. Went into Adventures Edge for a quick errand. He found a cool spot to lay down, greeted a couple people nicely, and waited patiently. As a reward we went for a quick spin around the marsh. He aced the marsh experience again. Nicely greeted all the dogs, nicely greeted the humans who wanted to say hi, and completely ignored the bicycles that passed by." It was also noted that he did not make attempts to mark anything in the store. At the shelter, other volunteers say he's a fairly easy walk and just enjoys ambling along and sniffing everything. He really likes to lean in for pets!
Cosmo has a lovely, glossy black coat and eyes that are brown and blue. He is quite a handsome fellow! He is available for adoption or foster through the Humboldt County Animal Shelter. Call (707) 840-9132 if you'd like to arrange to meet him.
