URGENT: Bonded Best Friends Hank & Kora Need a Loving, Permanent Home ❤️🐾

Hank and Kora are not just pets to their family, they are members of their family, and making this decision has been incredibly difficult. The family of 3 (Dad, Mom, and 12-year-old daughter) love these dogs dearly. Unfortunately, a serious foot injury and multiple upcoming surgeries mean Dad can no longer physically provide the exercise, care, and activity they need and deserve.
They want to put their well-being first and find them a home where they can thrive.
Meet Hank 🐶
Hank is a male Bluetick Coonhound mix, born June 15, 2023, weighing approximately 58 pounds. He is not neutered and is up-to-date on his vaccinations.
Hank is a big boy who genuinely believes he is a little lap dog! He is affectionate, entertaining, and happiest when he can be close to his people. He has learned an impressive collection of tricks, including sit, lay down, roll over, spin, speak, whisper, fetch, and “bang bang,” where he plays dead.
Hank is crate trained and waits for an “OK” command before eating. He has lived with cats and has visited dog parks, where he has gotten along well with other dogs. He may want to play with the cats more than they want to play with him!
Hank does bark when he sees someone near the gate, and he experiences motion sickness during car rides. He also has some separation anxiety and does best with companionship and a consistent routine.
Meet Kora 🐶
Kora is a female Rat Terrier mix, approximately 3 years old and believed to be about one to two months younger than Hank. She weighs approximately 24 pounds, is spayed, and is up-to-date on her vaccinations.
Kora is an affectionate little sweetheart who absolutely loves being a lap dog. If there is a cozy spot next to her favorite person, that is where she wants to be! She loves snuggling and being close to her family.
Kora is crate trained, knows sit, spin, and fetch, and waits for an “OK” command before eating. Like Hank, she has lived with cats and has done well around other dogs at dog parks.
Kora can be a little guard dog and will bark when she hears noises outside. She also experiences some separation anxiety and benefits from companionship, reassurance, and a predictable routine.
❤️ A Bond We Hope to Keep Together
Hank and Kora are extremely bonded and truly are best friends. They cuddle, sleep together, play together, and look to one another for comfort. Their relationship is a very special part of who they are, and our strongest hope is to find a home willing to welcome them both.
They are energetic dogs who would thrive with an active family able to provide daily exercise, playtime, attention, companionship, and continued training. A home that understands their separation anxiety and can offer a consistent routine would be especially beneficial.
The family knows they have needs, and want to be honest about those needs so they can be matched with the right family.
Why They Need Help
This is not a decision that has been made because their family no longer want them. They love them, and that is exactly why this hurts so much.
Dad's serious foot injury and upcoming surgeries have left him physically unable to walk them properly, bathe them, or provide the activity and attention they need. As a result, they are spending too much time kenneled or outside rather than enjoying the active family life they deserve.
They recognize that Hank and Kora's quality of life needs to improve, and we believe finding them the right home is the most responsible and loving decision they can make for them.
An Urgent but Thoughtful Search
They are hoping to have a safe, permanent placement plan in place as soon as possible because of the upcoming medical procedures. They can keep Hank and Kora temporarily while they work toward finding the right home.
The strong preference is for them to remain together, although their welfare must come first if a shared placement ultimately proves impossible.
They are also willing to provide their current food, supplies, veterinary records, vaccination information, daily routines, and anything else that may help them transition successfully.
The family is located in the Olympia/Tumwater area of Washington. They are not looking to hand them over to the first person who responds. They want to find a responsible, loving home where they will receive the companionship, exercise, attention, and family life they deserve for the rest of their lives.
