Not quite the wrapup for Kentucky. I was hoping to be making. This will mostly be an “all about Oliver” Post, which isn’t a bad thing, because he is a wonderful guy. 🤣

Unfortunately, just didn’t have the day in the sandbox with the boys this weekend. After not being above the 30s for the last year both tests scored a 46. (2 errors on my part in Griff’s test, and Elton blowing up in the canter work)
Qualifying scores, needing to be below a 45, had me making what I hope was the wise choice, to not run either around the quite demanding cross country courses, and withdrawing both.

Obviously, this was a very disappointing early end to our weekend, but Griff and Elton did not seem to mind as they got to lounge around their paddock and get lots of treats. 😊

Judy Stutts-Howells Oliver started competing on Saturday and was a bit wild in the morning when the windchill was about 35. Yikes. 🥶
Still managed to keep him in the ring, but again not our best Dressage score with a 40.

Of course, Jumping is his jam and he was just wonderful in both show jump and cross country!
Very full of himself, but jumping super, and just one rail in the Rolex Arena and then a double clear XC! He finished 14th in a big division.

It was a blast being a part of Jen Dougherty’s Novice team. The ladies all killed it with our team finishing 6th!

As always so incredibly grateful to Frank Rodgers who is always by my side with unwavering support. We were dealing with some pretty tough personal things this weekend back at home, and honestly couldn’t get through it all without him. ❤️

We are all ready for some much-needed downtime, the boys will be heading into a good long vacation. And maybe Frank and I will as well! 🤣

Sir Elton Accepted!
A bit of an emotional day for us as our wonderful boy FINALLY makes it to his first FEI competition at the 2* at Hagyard Midsouth.
And boy were we fortunate to be early in the order. Made it back to the barn and the heavens opened. Yikes!

WOW. 😮

Just because it would be silly to only compete 3 out of 4 weeks in a row…. We decided to dip our toes in the Dressage pool on Saturday with our lovely Dora.

It has been a hot second since I have done straight dressage, maybe 20 years?? Our first test (First 3) was a bit rough as we only had a 5 minute warm up (oops) and Dora thought she’d throw in a couple of nice flying changes (apparently not extra credit!) as well as I came close to forgetting the halt on the way in. 🤷‍♀️🤣

Our second test (First 1) was much improved (8 points) even with an annoying error on my part.

We were overall so impressed with her being very cooperative all day sitting quietly on the trailer and dealing with all the scary stuff. ❤️

This sweetie is still looking for her forever home! Please pm if interested.

Thanks Frank Rodgers for tagging along (Dora is one of his favorites, so that helps) and being wonderful. 😘

The boys CLEARLY enjoying their magnawave/massage sessions this morning.
Thanks so much Nose to Tail Wellness LLC for ensuring they feel their best for next week in Kentucky.
Elton will be tackling his first FEI in the 2*, Griff his second Intermediate, and Oliver the team competition at Novice.

I feel like you might need me in there….🤣❤️

We are winding down the season with our last few competitions of the year!

Fantastic outing for the ACF team at Silverwood Farm on Sunday!
A little disappointing to have cross country canceled due to all the rain during the week, but our team made the most of it with the whole group Show Jumping, double clear!

Abby Kay and Addie finished 1st in the Novice division, which was a wonderful way to finish up their very successful year with their third win!

Our 4 year old Cecil had his very first official show. He blew all expectations out of the water with a 3rd place finish in Starter.
I honestly was not certain I was even going to get him into the ring 🤣 and then have him just behave like such a grown-up was very exciting!

Brookelyn Munson and Charlie had their final outing together, as he heads on to a new rider and a new adventure.
Brookelyn is having to do grown-up things for a little while.
They had a wonderful SJ round to finish sixth in the beginner novice.

Hailey (Brian Weston) and Griff won the cuteness award of the day! They got to do their first dressage test with Canter. And watching Griff quietly and patiently take Hailey around show jump, after blasting around the courses last weekend,
was fairly adorable. They finished 7th in a big division.

We had wonderful support from family and friends, which is always so appreciated!

A very special mention to my dear niece Alix who is about to face the fight of her life.
You blow me away with your courage and your incredible spirit.
We love you so much, and are with you every step of the way.
Cecil will be waiting for you on the other side of this.
Can’t wait to share photos of the two of you next year and your beautiful smile.
💞💞💞

We all know that Frank Rodgers is definitely our hero here at the farm, but he certainly has a long history of being a hero to many.

🚒 From the MTFPD Archives

Approximately 30 years ago, MTFPD firefighters responded to McCullom Lake near Petersen Park after three fishermen fell through the ice.

Two of the fishermen were able to get themselves out, while a third remained in the frigid water. MTFPD Firefighter Frank Rodgers donned an exposure suit, entered the water, and brought the fisherman safely back to shore while other members supported the rescue from land.

The article also highlights the specialized water rescue equipment and training MTFPD had in place to prepare firefighters for incidents like this.

Frank served 22 years with MTFPD while continuing his fire service career in Morton Grove, eventually becoming Fire Chief in Morton Grove. Over the years, MTFPD has been fortunate to have many members who have developed their skills and leadership here and went on to serve in leadership positions with other fire departments. Frank is a great example of that tradition.

A lot has changed over the past 30 years, and our equipment and techniques have continued to evolve, but the mission remains the same: being trained, equipped, and prepared when our community needs us.

Very exciting debut for our 4 year old Cecil (AC Alluring Sea)
Expectations were pretty low since all the schooling had been cancelled due to rain.
His very first steps in a show arena and aside from some pathetic calling, he was such a solid citizen. 😍
Finished 3rd in the Starter division. 👏
