"Doctor Carlson and team are really wonderful with my two rescue dogs that tend to be a bit anxious. I did not feel judged that her teeth needed to be cleaned pretty intensely. In general, I appreciate that he has deep holistic knowledge, but also can apply more traditional/integrative medicine. I feel listened to and pricing is more than fair. Recently, we got my dogs teeth, cleaned and originally I thought she was gonna.." says Annie on Google

Tapeworms, specifically Dipylidium caninum, are associated with flea infestations and are another parasite that humans can get. The best way to prevent tapeworms is to keep your pets (including indoor cats) on year-round flea, tick, and heartworm prevention in addition to regular f***l testing, picking up f***s, and practicing good hygiene. If your pet engages in hunting or scavenging, talk to your vet about a heartworm prevention that covers tapeworms. Thanks for playing!

Welcome back to Spooky Trivia!

Ancylostoma caninum and Ancylostoma braziliense are common hookworm species that infect dogs and cats and can cause zoonotic skin infections in humans. Humans can get this from walking barefoot in contaminated sand or soil. It is more common in subtropical or tropical climates but in Illinois it can happen during warm summer months.

As pet owners, you can protect yourself and your family by picking up f***s, keeping your pet on year-round heartworm prevention, covering sandboxes, and wearing shoes in contaminated areas like backyards, beaches, or dog parks.

Stay tuned for more spooky trivia during the month of October!
