🐾 A Little PSA 🐾
One thing I take incredibly seriously is placement.
Whether it’s a puppy or one of our retired adults, I never place a dog lightly. Every dog raised here has been loved, cared for, socialized, and treated as family. When one leaves, my hope is always that they are going to a patient, loving, understanding home that sees them as a lifelong commitment.
It’s important to remember that dogs — especially adult dogs — can have an adjustment period. A new home means new smells, new people, new routines, new schedules, new expectations, and sometimes temporary setbacks while they learn and settle in. Patience, grace, consistency, and routine matter.
When we place a retired adult, the goal is to allow us to continue our breeding program responsibly while also ensuring each dog receives the love, stability, and one-on-one attention they deserve. Rehoming is never done lightly and is always done with their best interest at heart.
And something I want every Waters Edge family to know: my door is always open. I stand behind my dogs for life. If circumstances ever change or a placement is not the right fit, I would always rather one of my babies come back to me than end up in the wrong situation.
At the end of the day, this has never been “just dogs” to me — they are family, and finding the right homes matters more than anything. ❤️
Because our retired adults deserve the very best placements, we will also be implementing a required placement questionnaire/Google Form prior to consideration for retirement dogs. This will help us better understand lifestyle, expectations, home routine, experience, patience level, and overall fit so we can make the most successful match possible for both our dogs and their future families. ❤️
Our goal has always been — and always will be — responsible, loving, lifelong placements.
