Wisconsin River Chapter North American Versatile Hunting Dog Association

WRC NAVHDA is a group of novice and experienced owners, trainers, breeders, and enthusiasts of versa All handlers benefit from attending chapter activities.

We are centered in Dane County and serve primarily the south central Wisconsin area. Our membership has a mix of experienced and novice handlers who love working together to share their knowledge and experience in the development of our versatile hunting dogs. Some members are passionate hunters and trainers who are striving for a NAVHDA prize, while others are simply interested in improving their

dog’s hunting skills at our monthly training days. Whatever your interest or level of experience, we will help you achieve the best for you and your dog. WRC has a cooperative spirit that encourages all members to actively participate in the Chapter activities. We encourage members to volunteer for various tasks, from coordinating a lunch at a training day to working at one of the test events sponsored by our Chapter. These include training days, handler clinics, training seminars, apprentice judge training, spring and fall tests,
e-collar and equipment training, mock tests, and veterinary health advice. We are versatile pointing gun dog enthusiasts with a passion for enjoying our well trained dogs. We have joined together for training and testing to improve our dogs, to enhance our dog handling abilities, and ultimately improve the versatile breeds.

Hey Dog Trainers!

Donna sent out an email recently about Tim Kill’s obstacle course workshop. I took his course last fall with my dog Beck as we were working on some obedience training, enrichment exercises, and improving our bond.

This was such an exceptional experience. Of all the dog classes I’ve taken over the years, I really took away a lot of knowledge and greater appreciation for my relationship with Beck. She learned more about her body movement and paying attention more intentionally.

As with most things, what you put in is what you’ll get out of it with your dog. This is an incredibly generous offer from Tim. And I guarantee you will learn something new with your dog. Please take advantage of the opportunity with such an intuitive and thoughtful dog trainer! ❤️

Looking for an Aims and Rules Clinic?

The NCW Chapter is hosting an Aims and Rules Clinic this summer. We would love to have some of your members join us! Please pass this information to anyone who may be interested.

Date: June 27th and 28th
Clinic Leader: Roy Ames
Time: 7:00 a.m.: Participants on the grounds to meet the Clinic Leader 7:30 a.m.: Clinic Begins
Location: Mead Wildlife Area - 200684 County Rd O Mosinee, WI

Meals: A light breakfast and lunch will be included each day. Special requests cannot be accommodated, so please plan accordingly.

Entries:
Clinic entries are limited and will be taken on a first come, first serve basis. There is a limit of 20 participants. The clinic will be held rain or shine. Please bring chairs, a pen, paper, and clothes for all types of weather, including boots and blaze orange. You will not need your dog for this clinic. Demo dogs will be used. This is an intensive two-day weekend. Participants are familiarized with the NAVHDA system and philosophy of judging versatile hunting dogs by learning how to use a judge work card in scoring Natural Ability and Utility dogs. Participants benefit by learning how NAVHDA evaluates versatile hunting dogs.

Join us for an intensive, hands-on weekend designed to deepen your understanding of the NAVHDA system and the evaluation of versatile hunting dogs.
