Can you explain the ribbon/shipping charges on the entry form?
Absolutely! We lowered the class fees to remove any ribbon charge so the class fee with no ribbon is what is covered by the class fee itself. We call that our base price .
The ribbon fees are not covered by the show anymore. And are considered an add on option of you would like a ribbon mailed to you. The cost for shipping and buying ribbon recently have tripled and to help keep costs lower to show in general we gave you some options here instead of raising the price for everyone and shipping ribbons to everyone weither they want them or not we choose to give you that choice of what you would rather (A fancy ribbon to show of or cash left in your pocket)
The shipping charges is about 1/3 of what it costs now to ship ribbons and Division awards based on the number of classes you enter and where you leave. That's calculated by USPS and not something we control the price of per cart. (typically we can only ship 2/3 ribbons with shipping rates now for what it charges to ship them to you, plus we are charged shipping twice when we buy ribbons so each ribbon ends up costing us roughly $5-8 in shipping alone then an additional $6-7 for the ribbon itself) if we kept covering all ribbons we would have to raise the cost per class significantly. So we kept cost low for those who don't want ribbons at all and let the additional cost shift for those who do want ribbons (if we covered Rosette ribbons for everyone class fees would be closer to $20/$25 a class like most other online shows and even then it would only be a stock Rosette and not our custom show one).
