This sweet domestic goose was found 3 hours away. No one would take him, except Laurie at the Funny Farm. The lady who found him drove 3 hours.

He was injured and full of maggots. Laurie spent 2 full days loving him, giving him baths, and picking out each maggot one by one. We think he may have been bit by another animal or hit by a car as he has 2 large holes in his chest and his wings are severely injured.

Laurie spent most of her weekend helping him. She didn’t once complain. Her bathroom was immediately turned into a trauma center and she became the trauma nurse.

His name was Gary but Laurie changed his name to Hudson after the river.

She didn’t think twice. She knew what had to be done and she didn’t waste a single minute.

Hudson loves the love and care he gets here. He’s the sweetest goose.

Somehow he just knows everything is going to be better now.

And so does the dogs. They knew he needed love.

And the dogs stepped up to show it, cause each one came from a difficult situation too. We don’t know Hudson’s future. But we know it’s much better than his past.

All we can do now is hope.

“Meet Cashew”

THE FUNNY FARM SAVED THIS SWEET BOY FROM ACCT

A few weeks ago, Funny Farm stepped in and saved Cashew from ACCT. He is a 10-year-old German Shepherd who deserved a chance, and we knew we had to give him one.

Cashew went into a foster home with Brianna, one of the most caring, gentle, and diligent foster moms you could ever imagine. He could not be in better hands.

When Cashew first came into our care, he was doing really well. As we do with every dog we pull from ACCT, we had him checked by our veterinarian right away to make sure he was okay and to establish a medical baseline.

But things changed quickly.

Cashew developed pneumonia and became very sick. He was hospitalized for two days and spent time in an oxygen tank to help him breathe. After treatment, he seemed to be getting better. He was eating, drinking, gaining strength, and we thought we were finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel.

Then he went sideways again.

Back to the hospital.

Since then, Cashew has undergone multiple hospitalizations, X-rays, bloodwork, medications, and extensive testing. Most recently, he had a tracheal wash so the veterinarians can determine exactly what bacteria is causing this stubborn infection and which antibiotic will finally kick it.

We are hopeful our boy is finally on the road to recovery. ❤️

But getting him here has come at a tremendous cost.

In just a few weeks, Cashew's medical bills have already topped $13,000.

At Funny Farm, we don't pull a dog from a shelter and then stop when things get difficult. We work as hard as we can to get these dogs healthy, give them every chance at a happy life, and find them loving forever homes. We have fundraisers, events, camps, and whatever we can to raise funds.
