In keeping with National Dog Week, we continue with a very special Dogs In Politics Day. The holiday began with then Vice-President, Richard Nixon's pup, Checkers; however, Presidents throughout U.S history have shared the White House with pets.

FYI: Did you know that George Washington kept many foxhounds?

Washington was creative in naming his dogs. In addition to Sweet Lips, he had dogs named Tipsy, Tipler, Drunkard, and Vulcan.

Who else is paws-itive that Fall will bring an end to sweating like a hot mess on our morning walks? 🐾😂 Tonight at 8:04 EDT, the Northern Hemisphere gets its cozy on, and we're crossing our paws for crisp air and comfy temps!

Special shoutout to all the pup parents who shared their fur babies' pics yesterday - we're still swooning over the 64 adorable faces that love Mayfield Veterinary Clinic 💕. Here's to many more tail wags and snuggles this Autumn! 🍁 It's HERE, Happy Fall, Y'all!!

Woof woof! It's finally here - National Dog Week! 🐾😂 You know you're a total sucker for those adorable little furballs when the sound of them destroying your favorite shoes fills your heart with joy (just kidding, kinda); or when that wagging tail makes you wanna drop everything and give them belly rubs all day. This week is all about celebrating the ridiculous, unconditional love we have for our puppers - and let's be real, the ridiculous, unconditional destruction they bring to our lives - BUT we wouldn't have it any other way. 😂

So, let's flood this page with pics of our fur babies! Drop a photo of your good boy or girl in the comments of this post, and then go back to snuggling them (because let's face it, that's what you were gonna do anyway).

Happy National Dog Week, folks! 🐾❤️

As pet owners, it is imperative to recognize the substantial commitment required to provide optimal care for our canine companions. Ensuring a structured, reliable, and active lifestyle is vital to their overall health and wellbeing. Today, September 19th, marks Responsible Dog Ownership Day, as designated by the veterinary calendar.

The American Veterinary Medical Association (AVMA) outlines the essential pillars of responsibility that dog owners undertake when bringing a new furry friend into their family. The reward of a good dog is well worth the necessary commitment.
