You all remember our sweet special needs girl Madigan. She came into the rescue with severe spina bifida, nerve damage, urine burns for being diapered too long, giardia, and hook worm. Once she was cured of giardia and hookworm, and the urine burns were treated she was one happy and spunky little girl. Madigan became a favorite of everyone out here, she had the happiest personality, silly little grunts, loved to take her walks and play in the pool. We reached out many times to see if another rescue that specialized in special needs dogs could take her in, because we knew eventually, she would become paralyzed and need a wheelchair. We had no luck, until last week. I was contacted by an animal control officer in Nevada that wanted to know if we could take in some of their dogs because the shelter that she worked with was a very high kill. We talked quite a while and during the conversation Madigan's name came up, and we discussed her condition and what we were hoping to find for this special girl. We received a very exciting call a couple of days later and a home was found for Madigan in Salt Lake City Utah. She will be living in a home with a lady that is very familiar with the special needs of Maddie, because she had a dog before with similar conditions. Maddie will receive all the medical treatment that she will need and will get to live in a house with a loving Mom. Our hearts are filled with joy, but a little sadness because we will miss our little snorting, hopping, funny girl.
