Fat girl is getting miserable she spends most of the day sprawled out over the ac in the kitchen. Poor girl still has 14 days to go.

Yay Ember had an ultrasound today and she is confirmed pregnant. (she is already starting to show). We will have little siglets around July 23. VC Ember x VC Sig. This is a repeat breeding that has proven conformation, temperament, coats and drive.

This spring breeding season has not gone as planned. Both Ember and Teeter came up with no puppies, and it saddens me. However, it has also got me thinking about something I need to get off my chest. I spend hours reviewing pedigrees and test records for potential stud dogs. I test my girls to the highest level and hunt them extensively during the season. I spend thousands of dollars on health testing, genetic testing, progesterone testing, and eventually taking time off to drive to the stud dog to breed. I spend hours responding to potential puppy owners via email, text, and phone calls. Don't get me wrong; I love to talk dogs. However, after all this, a buyer wants a deposit back because the rebreed is not in the right time frame for them, and they are off to find another litter that works better for them. It makes me question why I do this. It's apparent that the quality of the breeding did not mean a thing to them, only what fits into their life, and this has not been the first time it's happened. I'm just frustrated because this is why backyard breeders are so successful - they have puppies all the time available for immediate gratification. Sorry for the rant. Adaptability!! Swimming on Monday and Tuesday plowing thru snow drifts on Thursday. Wires are made for Nebraska weather. 😆

Some exciting 2026 litters taking place now. Ember is breeding to Sig for a repeat litter as we speak and Teeter will be breeding to Surly early next week. Puppies will be due Marley to mid March and will be ready to go home early May just in time for spring training. Currently taking deposits on both litters.

First of the Carbon X Maverick went home today. We wish Rex the best of luck with his new family and sent him home with a great puppy pack.

I try to take the puppies to a new location or surroundings every day especially between 7-8 weeks. Tonight was the San dunes by the water and some creek bed time. They are doing a wonderful job of exploring and becoming strong confident puppies. Not to mention the weather has been beautiful.
