GOOD MORNING FROM MAMA CLARA ❤️

Well… our girl may be running a little sideways, but she is RUNNING.

And most importantly, Mama Clara is happy.

She is bright, she is moving, she is enjoying herself, and she is not showing us any signs that she is in pain. After yesterday’s scary and very sudden changes, we are incredibly grateful to see this girl being herself this morning.

We still don’t know exactly what caused the neurological changes we are seeing. An FCE, sometimes called a “spinal stroke,” remains one possibility, along with another neurological issue and other things. ❤️

So we keep moving forward one step at a time.

Up next for our 14-year-old girl will be a full blood panel and some X-rays to see what else we can learn and determine what, if anything, she needs from us going forward.

For today, though?

She’s happy. She’s comfortable.

We’ll continue to keep everyone updated as we know more. Thank you for loving our Mama Clara!

🍀 CLOVER IS STILL LOOKING FOR HER FOREVER FAMILY!

And we truly don’t know how, because foster life has given us such a great picture of exactly who this girl is.

Clover is a young (just over 1 year old) family dog.

She is currently fostered in a home with children and other dogs, and she is doing wonderfully. She absolutely LOVES the kids and is affectionate, snuggly and happiest when she gets to be right in the middle of family life. Bedtime cuddles? Absolutely. Hanging outside with her people? Yep. Following along with whatever the household is doing? That’s Clover.

🐾 Dog friendly with proper introductions. Clover can be a confident girl, so we think her best canine match is an easygoing/submissive male.

❤️ Wonderful with children. Her foster family’s girls have become some of her favorite people, and these pictures say plenty.

🏡 Household living? She’s got it. Clover has settled beautifully into foster life and enjoys having a routine, a family and canine companions.

🥰 Affectionate and people-oriented. She’s not looking to live on the sidelines. Clover wants to be part of her family’s everyday life.

🍀 Fully vetted and ready to move from foster to FOREVER.

Now she needs the one thing we can’t give her ourselves:

Her own family.

If you’ve been looking for a dog who can join an active family, live with kids, have a compatible canine buddy and then pile into bed for snuggles at the end of the day…

PLEASE LOOK AT CLOVER.

She’s ready. ❤️ MSGBR.org

HAPPY TAILS, DAPHNE! ❤️🐾

Our girl is HOME, and the updates are already making us smile.

Daphne and her new sister Bella have been going on walks together, playing together and, of course, taking some very important sister naps.

We’d say she’s settling in just fine. ❤️

We want to give a HUGE thank you to Daphne’s fosters for giving her the love, time and home she needed while we searched for the family meant for her. Foster families are such an enormous part of every happy ending we get to share.

And to everyone who applied for Daphne, THANK YOU. This girl received so much interest, and we only wish we had a Daphne for every wonderful family who wanted to give her a home.

We prayerfully hope for the day when every single MSGBR dog gets this much interest. There are still so many incredible dogs waiting for someone to choose them.

But today belongs to Daphne.

She’s home. She’s loved. She’s got herself a sister.

HAPPY TAILS, sweet girl. You did it! ❤️

Adoptable Zeus & Moose checking in - these 2 are part of the crew from Mama Callie - Dad is unknown, mom is Aussie mix and approx. 35 #

Zeus and Moose here.

Our foster mom went some place called "thrifting" today and came home all excited because she got us "howl-o-ween ow-fits"...whatever that is. They looked like toys that someone took all the stuffing out of, but then she wouldn't even let us play tug-of-war with them! Jeesh! Instead she put them over our heads and front legs. We've never seen toys you wear before, but I guess they're not too bad.

Of course she tried to make us sit still for pictures...she's always trying to take pictures of us...but it was much more fun to wrestle and yank on each other's "ow-fit". But then that made us tired and we decided to take naps.

Foster mom says we look so cute in our "howl-o-ween ow-fits" but we're still wondering who took all the stuffing out of them.

8:00 PM UPDATE: MAMA CLARA ❤️

First, the good news: Mama Clara is not considered an emergency at this time.

After being evaluated this evening, one possibility is that Clara may have experienced an FCE, or fibrocartilaginous embolism, sometimes referred to as a “spinal stroke.” This occurs when a small piece of fibrocartilage blocks blood flow to an area of the spinal cord and can cause the sudden weakness, unsteadiness and neurological changes we saw in Clara today.

There is also the possibility that we are dealing with another neurological issue, so right now, we simply don’t have a definitive answer.

Mama Clara turns 14 years old this year, and because of her age and what we are seeing, we are going to take this one step at a time.

Over the coming days, we will get her in for a full blood panel and X-rays and continue evaluating her based on those results and how she is doing.

For now, Clara is home and comfortable. She has been started on pain medication, and we will be watching her very closely.

Thank you to everyone who donated, shared our post, reached out and kept our old girl in your thoughts today. When that phone call came this morning and we knew something wasn’t right, we didn’t know what we were walking into. Having all of you behind us means more than you know.

We will continue to update everyone as her follow-up appointments approach and we learn more.

Thank you for loving our sanctuary girl right alongside us. ❤️

5:45 PM update ~ we are awaiting the doctor and will update following that between 6:30-7. Gabapentin has helped with walking but there is more going on with our girl.

‼️WE’RE HEADED TO GET MAMA CLARA. ‼️

Candi called us this morning very concerned about our girl, and Brad and I are on our way to scoop her up and get her to the emergency vet.

Mama Clara is extremely anxious and unable to settle, and she is unsteady on her feet.

Right now, we don’t know what is happening.

Earlier this week she had one day where she refused food, which she has done before, and then seemed okay. This came on fast, and today something is very clearly not right.

So we are going.

For those who have followed MSGBR for a long time, you know Mama Clara is one of our sanctuary dogs with Ray & Candi.

And sometimes we think people forget that part of rescue.

There are dogs here no one is coming to adopt.

Dogs whose stories didn’t end with an adoption picture and a happy-tail post.

They stayed.

And we love them.

God, we love them SO MUCH.

They are still fed every day. They still need medications, preventatives and veterinary care. They still grow older. They still get sick. And when one of them needs us, we make the same promise to them that we make to every dog who comes through this rescue:

You are ours. We are coming.

Today, Mama Clara needs us.

And we need you.

If you can help toward her emergency veterinary care today, please help us help Mama Clara. I’ll attach our donation links below.

We don’t know what we are facing yet or what today is going to bring. We will update everyone as soon as we know more.

For right now, please keep our sweet old girl in your thoughts and send every bit of good you’ve got her way.

✨Foster Friday Spotlight ✨

Vickie and Carl opened their home to Mama CC, giving her a safe and supportive place to raise her family. They helped care for CC and her litter during an especially important time, ensuring that the puppies had the stability and love they needed to grow. Their connection to the family became even more special when they adopted Fergie from the litter.

With two other dogs already in their home, Vickie and Carl thoughtfully waited until their pack had time to settle and adjust before returning to foster again. They are currently fostering Demi/Deli from Randolph County Animal Services

Their patience, care, and commitment show exactly what fostering is about: making room when they can and providing a safe place for dogs who need one.

Fostering is not always easy. It takes flexibility, patience, and a whole lot of heart—and we are deeply grateful for people like Vickie and Carl, who have made a meaningful difference for Mama CC, Fergie, and their family. Thank you, Vickie and Carl, for being part of the MSGBR family.

HELLO, HI. IT’S ME, CALLIE. ❤️

Just popping in to let everyone know that I am living my absolute BEST life.

Velcro dog? That is me. If my foster mama has a back pocket, I belong in it. 😂

And guess what?! I’m making SO much progress with my crate! No accidents in the house, ever. My fosters are super proud of me, and frankly, I’m pretty proud of me too.

I love my foster siblings. And cats? A breeze. I pay absolutely no attention to them.

Basically, I’m adorable, affectionate, doing all my homework and ready to meet my people.

Come meet me THIS SUNDAY at PetSmart!

Just look for Jess.

I’ll be in her back pocket. ❤️

Love,
Callie 🐾
