It is a common misconception that professional dog groomers spend their days merely playing with dogs. While I do enjoy sharing sweet and festive pictures of my canine clients, the reality of my job is often more nuanced. The first set of pictures shows a dog that was cruelly abandoned and left to fend for itself until a group of local heroes intervened and brought it to the attention of a reputable rescue guru. This amazing person, who provides a vital service to our community, contacted me for urgent grooming services. This sweet boy demonstrated remarkable resilience and patience throughout the grooming process. He is now available for adoption to a suitable owner.
The second set of pictures shows a dog with a history of aggression at grooming salons, which led its owner to groom it at home for several years. I groom the owner's other sweet dog, so They asked if I would be willing to take on the challenge of grooming this spirited girl. Upon discussion and arrival, the dog was muzzled and medicated; dad explained it was the only way he could manage her grooming. Prepared for challenges, I used appropriate techniques and calm praise to complete the grooming session successfully without incident. Is her groom perfect? No, but she is comfortable and hopefully gained some trust with me for her next session. Education is key, and there is nothing wrong with asking for help, or no such thing as a dumb question. If I don’t know the answer I promise I will help you search for the right answers.
