We have some unfortunate news. Saké and Todo's little girl passed away this morning. We're not entirely sure what happened, but she started declining around 11pm last night. She was having difficulties breathing, so I did everything I knew of to help remove any sort of blockage or possible aspiration. I couldn't hear any fluid in her lungs and air was passing through, but it was like she couldn't get enough oxygen. Sometimes these things happen and they're entirely out of our control. That's just the ugly side of breeding. She would have been two weeks old today.

Surprise! That's what Saké told us this morning 😅 her temperature dropped to 98.9° when I checked it at 7:30am. We quickly brought her back to the vet where they did her c-section! On her exact due date as well!

So, turns out today will not be puppy day. He/she isn't quite ready to see the world yet. The fetal heart rate was a 190 and needs to be 200. We will be keeping an eye on her and watch for any nesting signs or temperature drop over the next few days. It's looking like it might be Wednesday instead! Unless she starts giving us those signs that she's ready to meet her baby 🥰

It's been awhile since we posted! We've been spending lots of time with Saké and watching her grow up. Now, Todo and her are expecting their first litter! Time flies! We'll be welcoming their first puppy very soon. The x-ray showed only one pup, but we're hoping it's a little chocolate merle 🥰
