The Urban Farming Institute of Boston (UFI) is an organization founded to support the development of urban farming, growing agricultural products for income, in the City of Boston. By transforming vacant land in Boston into urban farm enterprises that are economically productive and environmentally sustainable and training local residents to become skilled urban growers, UFI will promote the healt

hy expansion of the industry. The Urban Farming Institute has been created to:
• Train individuals in the business and practice of urban farming
• Increase the opportunity for farming by acquiring, remediating and leasing urban land for farming activities
• Develop public knowledge of urban farming’s contribution to sustainability and the value of local fresh food through a public education program
• Influence national and local policy on food security and urban farming through research and analysis

The Urban Farming Institute is stepping into a new chapter, and we're looking for our next President & CEO.

This leader will guide UFI's continued work in urban agriculture, food access, and community-building across Boston, while stewarding the relationships and culture that make this work possible. It's an opportunity to build on a strong foundation and help shape what comes next.

We hold deep gratitude for the leadership of Pat Spence and the care that has brought UFI to this moment, and we're excited for what's ahead.

Caring for the earth starts right where we are 🌱

This morning, a group of volunteers and neighbors gathered at the farm to share breakfast, make buttons, and spend time in community before heading out to pick up trash from the surrounding blocks.

Earth Day reminds us that caring for the land is also caring for each other. At UFI, that work continues every day in how we grow food, share space, and show up for community. 💚

We're grateful for everyone who came through to take care of this space with us.
