This week we're shining a spotlight on Lola from Livingston County Animal Shelter! ❤️

Lola has done her time in the parenting department after raising nine puppies, and now it's finally her turn to be spoiled. From the sounds of it, she's the total package: playful, smart, social, and apparently blessed with some impressive vocal talents. 🎶

If you've been thinking about adding a dog to your family, take a look at Lola. She may be waiting at another shelter, but we're all on the same team when it comes to helping animals find loving homes.

Check out Livingston County Animal Shelter's post below to learn more about Lola and how to meet her! 🐕💕

🐾 Maddie’s Meow of the Week 🐾

Each week, our volunteer Maddie conducts highly scientific feline evaluations involving petting cats, accepting headbutts, and taking detailed notes on their quirks.

✨ This Week’s Cat: Vivian Tatertot ✨

From her official bio:

Vivian Tatertot came to the shelter with her kittens after they were found living outside. While we'll never know exactly how they ended up there, the family was well-socialized and clearly familiar with people. This sweet, gentle 6-year-old girl enjoys attention and should fit well into just about any home looking for a friendly feline companion. She is spayed, vaccinated, and microchipped.

Maddie's take:

Vivian Tatertot is a woman who knows what she likes and sees absolutely no reason to change her routine. Every time I've visited the cat room, she's been in the exact same spot, living her best life and judging everyone else's poor decision-making.

She's giving "hard-working single mom who finally gets five minutes to herself" energy. A little scruffy? Yes. A little tired? Maybe. Still incredibly sweet? Absolutely.

Vivian enjoys hand-holding, gentle head bumps, and showing off her elite stretching abilities. If competitive stretching were an Olympic sport, she'd be bringing home the gold.

She's the kind of cat who doesn't need to be the center of attention. She'll simply be over there looking adorable until you come to her. And once you do, she'll happily remind you that she deserves all the pets she missed while raising her kittens.

📣 ICACS Alumni Roll Call! 📣

The other day, our staff started reminiscing about some of the animals who have come through our shelter over the years.

We found ourselves wondering...

What ever happened to that dog who thought every toy belonged to them?

Or that cat who would scream for attention the second someone walked into the room?

Are they now sleeping in king-sized beds and living lives of luxury?

We need answers. 👀

Drop a photo of your ICACS alum in the comments and tell us:
🐾 Their name at the shelter (if you remember it)
🏠 How long they've been home
🎓 What they've accomplished since graduation

Examples include:
• Becoming the CEO of the couch
• Mastering the art of stealing blankets
• Achieving a black belt in zoomies
• Convincing everyone in the house that dinner should be served 3 hours earlier

Show us your former shelter pets living their best lives! We can't wait to see what our graduates have been up to. ❤️🐾

🧬 Reveal! 🐾

The results are in, and Kevin's DNA is officially no longer a mystery! 🎉

Formerly known as Gumby, Kevin has come a long way since his shelter days. From a skinny, neglected puppy with a lot of healing ahead of him to the happy, healthy dog you see today, his transformation has been nothing short of incredible. ❤️

A huge thank you to Kevin's family for sharing his photos and DNA results with us. We love getting updates from our former shelter pets and seeing them thrive in their forever homes.

Think your dog would make a great feature? 📧 Email your dog's photo and DNA results to [email protected] for a chance to be featured in a future post!

Winnie to Theodore: “This friendship is moving a little fast.”

Theodore had a blast in playgroup today.
Winnie also attended. 😂

👴👵 CLASSIC NAMES, CLASSIC DEALS! 🐾

Have you noticed some of our adoptable animals have names that sound like they belong at a bingo hall, church potluck, or early bird dinner special lately?

That's because our name theme this month is Classic Names!

And honestly? We think names like Marion, Greta, Wendell, and Theodore deserve to spend their golden years (or at least their puppy and kitten years) relaxing in a home of their own.

So we're introducing our Retirement Plan Adoption Special!

💙 Cats: $10
💙 Dogs: $25

The special runs through Thursday, June 18th!

Stop by and meet our residents. We can't promise they'll tell you stories about walking uphill both ways to school, but we can promise they're ready to find a family.

🧬 Breed detectives, we need your help! 🐾

It's and this week's mystery mutt is Kevin, formerly known as Gumby!

If you've been following us for a while, you might remember Kevin from his shelter days. When he first arrived, he was in rough shape and had a long road to recovery ahead of him. Fast forward to today, and just look at him! ✨

Talk about a glow-up. 😍

What breeds do you think make up Kevin's DNA results?

Drop your guesses below and check back tomorrow for the reveal!

(And before anyone asks, no, he's not available. Kevin already found his happily ever after. ❤️)

The shelter's front entrance now comes with a complimentary cat greeting. 😹

Grim Gamer has discovered that sitting in the catio near the front door is the perfect way to meet every person who visits. He takes his responsibilities very seriously and would like to personally welcome you to the shelter.

We're pretty sure he's hoping one of those visitors decides to take him home.
