Cat grooming is not always about shaving.
Yes, we offer cat shave-downs and lion cuts when needed.
But whenever possible, our preference is to help your cat keep their natural coat.
A cat’s coat is there for a reason. It helps protect the skin, regulate temperature, and keep them comfortable.
But when shedding coat, oil buildup, tangles, and matting are left too long, that coat can quickly become uncomfortable, tight, and sometimes unsafe to brush out.
That is usually when shaving becomes necessary.
The better option?
Maintenance before the coat reaches that point.
Regular cat grooming can help with:
Removing loose undercoat
Reducing shedding around the home
Preventing painful matting
Keeping the skin and coat cleaner
Helping long-haired cats stay comfortable
Catching coat issues before they become a full shave-down situation
For some cats, that means regular brushing at home.
For others, especially long-haired cats, senior cats, overweight cats, or cats who do not tolerate brushing well, professional grooming on a schedule can make a major difference.
Our cat grooming services may include a bath, blow dry, deshed, comb-through, sanitary trim, nail trim, or haircut depending on your cat’s coat condition and tolerance.
Shave-downs have their place.
But prevention is kinder, calmer, and usually much easier on the cat.
Keep the coat. Skip the crisis.
Cat grooming is available by appointment at The Gilded Groomer in Mason City.
