Well said David Hughes, it was a great week all the way around! Until next year Montana!
That’s a wrap on the Montana 2026 Bird Hunt! I’ll share some more pictures but I had to start with this one. From left to right we had Jeff Tucker with Vanguard Gun Dogs, Eric Volmer, Matt Roth (token wire hair guy), Jason Stanley with Bones Fork Kennel, David Hughes with Traditions Shorthairs, Mark Heuring with Sand Rock German Shorthaired Pointers, my son Jack Hughes and George McMahon with Sternjager German Shorthairs. Missing was Fred Rice with Sundance German Shorthaired Pointers who organized the trip and whose 4 plus decades of dedication to the breed had his fingerprints on 21 of the 24 dogs in camp. It was an honor to spend the week with this group of men. Montana never disappoints and this year was no exception!
