We are excited
to announce Dr. Meg Oberer-Gerber will be joining the team at the Animal Hospital of Rye starting July 6th!
Dr. Meg comes
to us with four years of experience as a veterinarian from a busy general practice. She earned her doctorate of veterinary medicine from the Virginia-Maryland College of Veterinary Medicine (Virginia Tech) in 2022. Prior to becoming a veterinarian, she earned
a bachelor's degree in Biology from York College of Pennsylvania in 2017.
Her drive
to help animals started from a young age; Dr. Meg has been working with animals that are not her own since she started volunteering at her local animal shelter as a pre-teen. Her spark to pursue a career as a veterinarian, however, started with her childhood
dog named Boots. Boots had very bad skin disease that meant she had to go to the vet frequently for help with pain, inflammation, and infections. Dr. Meg’s dreams to be a vet were solidified by helping care for Boots- she could see how hard her vet was working
to make Boots feel comfortable and wanted to be able to help others the same way her vet helped Boots and her family.
In her career
as a veterinarian, Dr. Meg finds the most joy in building relationships with clients and their pets. She has a personal approach to practicing medicine and is passionate about helping people find the best way to support their pets within their means. She understands
the special bonds that people and their pets share and wants to be a part of supporting your pet’s long, healthy life.
In her personal
life, Dr. Meg has had an array of pets including dogs, cats, guinea pigs, hamsters, gerbils, a rabbit, and fish. Currently, she shares her home with her husband, their pitbull (Lucy), hound mix (Tanks), tabby cats (Fred and Jim) and guinea pigs (Russet and
Yukon). It’s her dream to one day also own property with chickens and bees. In her free time, she enjoys listening to live music, camping/hiking in the woods, and creating quilts.
