If you had told me a year ago that I would be trimming my own horses and applying glue-on composite shoes, I would not have believed it. Concern over the condition of my horses’ hooves (and losing my heart horse to improper hoof care) led me to take a deep and intentional dive into learning as much as possible about proper hoof care. I recognized that no one is more invested in my horses’ long-term comfort and soundness than I am, so I chose to take an active role as their advocate.

I am deeply appreciative of the education and hands-on instruction from Kristi Luehr through the Okanagan School of Natural Hoof Care over the last 10 months. The knowledge and skills I gained now allow me to support my horses’ comfort and soundness through balanced trimming and the appropriate use of glue-on composite shoes when indicated.

While I still have much to learn, I now approach that journey with confidence and enthusiasm rather than fear.

🐴 Hey horse friends! 🐴

I’m hosting a hoof trimming & glue-on shoe clinic at my farm in Marysville this October, and I’m hoping to get a few horse cadaver legs to use for demos and hands-on learning. These would be used purely for educational purposes to help participants understand hoof anatomy and become better trimmers for their horses.

If you know of anyone who might have access, or a vet/equine program that could help, please let me know! 🙏
