Recently, some of our staff turned a regular afternoon into something pretty special — a playgroup session with four of our shelter pups.

Meet the crew:

🐶 𝐏𝐨𝐧𝐠𝐨 — This guy is pure energy and friendliness wrapped in fur. Pongo came back to us recently through no fault of his own — he’s just still very much a puppy, and puppies come with big feelings and even bigger training needs. He’s working on it. We believe in him. 👍

🐶 𝐃𝐨𝐭𝐭𝐢 — Sweet as they come, but her heart needs a gentle hand. She’s the kind of girl who takes her time, and honestly? That’s okay. We don’t always know what these precious souls have been through before they find us — and that uncertainty is heartbreaking. What we do know is that the right person, someone with patience and grace, is going to be rewarded with a love that is absolutely worth the wait. 🥰

🐶 𝐒𝐮𝐦𝐦𝐢𝐭 — Adorable. Loving. Friendly. Honestly just an all-around good boy who probably made everyone in the room smile without even trying. 😍

🐶 𝐁𝐚𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐲 — Energetic, friendly, and sweet — a good boy through and through who brought nothing but good vibes to the group — and lots of energy 😁

Playgroups aren’t just fun (though they’re definitely that) — they help our pups build confidence, practice their social skills, and remind them that good things happen here. If any of these four have stolen your heart, come meet them!

Since there was a glitch with our first video of the drawing and then we had to do a quick second one — we would like to thank Greg Hubler Chevrolet in Camby for donating the 4 tickets and two parking passes to us for the giveaway. 𝗣𝗼𝗻𝗴𝗼 was born right here at the shelter — his mom came in as a stray and delivered 11 puppies just days later. He got adopted, came back. Got adopted again, came back four months later. He is seven months old and has never known what it feels like to just… stay.

We posted him on May 10th after his last return. Still no interest. And with this heat, the dogs can’t even get the outdoor time that helps them cope — which makes every day harder for a puppy with energy to burn. 𝐇𝐞 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐧𝐨𝐰 — 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐨𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮? ❤️

Pongo didn’t do anything wrong. Puppies are work — we say it every time, and we mean it — but that’s on us as humans to be ready for. He’s still here, still hopeful, but he needs someone to come meet him and fall in love.
